The black Diaclone Skids design barely had anything resembling an identity. Most of the characters they've done this with have little in terms of characterization, usually amounting to a small one-time appearance in some niche comic, a back-of-the-box bio blurb, or not even that. And I simply disagree. I see no issue with making male characters female, especially when they're doing it with what are, quite frankly, absolute nobodies. In a franchise where there are so many male characters, changing some of them into female characters gives them some degree of notability since the ratio of male to female characters is still far away from 1:1. And even if that weren't the case, so what? It's a different interpretation of a design or character (for those toys with a personality beyond one or two minor appearances), no different from Hound in G1 versus Hound in the Bayverse.

And specifically in the case of Burn-Out, since that is who we're talking about, male pronouns are used in regards to the character exactly once across all media. In Cybertron's Most Wanted (the very first appearance of the Black Diaclone Honda Z design in a Transformers comic), they're a mech piloted by a female pilot named Dia, and in the Velocitron comics that released recently they never use male pronouns there. The only indication towards the character having ever been male is the back-of-the-box blurb on the Legacy toy, which contradicts the designer's explicitly stated intentions of the character being female, so if anything, the male characterization would be violating the "established identity" you're saying is so vital to these toys.

I don't normally grab bots that didn't appear on screen, but I need that "Carly". The ball peg on my MP44 version snapped off, so painting this one would be a good replacement.

Hopefully I find a Carly on sale on Ebay, but if not, grab this, take the fig and sell the bot at a discount!

...unless someone here has a Carly for sale! :D

I enjoy the idea that someone out there is annoyed that my Road Rocket is female and that my Burnout will be male even though it has nothing to do with how the characters are portrayed in "official canon" let alone their own private collections. As if it ever really mattered within the fiction of it all.

In my collection it will probably be the genderless, lifeless piloted mecha of the original Diaclone concept. Perhaps I'll headcanon Tigertrack in there too, as that toy doesn't have a faction symbol either.

    Huh?

    Burnout doesn't have a "back-of-the-box blurb".
Nor do her fellow Velocitron Deluxes.

So even less of an argument towards it! I've yet to see anyone actually provide a source on where the male pronouns come from, so I assumed that was it, but I guess not even that.

What? That's not how it works. TakaraTomy has been making fewer and fewer original project because Transformers isn't popular in Japan. Releasing the same general product as Hasbro is a cost-cutting measure on TakaraTomy's part; Hasbro does not have the power to make them do anything in Japan.

Yeah, I've learned I had the completely wrong about the state of the franchise in Japan since I made that post.

Did I screw up and miss him?

Thinks thats when sellers outside of Japan are getting them, as all the other stores have summer release dates. Don't know if thats s production thing, or they all went with cheaper shipping.

BBB is my main store these days for anything I can’t get from Amazon Japan. I was still able to order MP Skyfire from them yesterday. They don’t list the final price yet which is annoying. But their prices are usually competitive with Show Z, Terry’s, etc. so it should be OK. And their shipping is great. As quick as 6 days from China to Eastern Canada. I have not ordered TT Mall releases from them yet so I’m interested to see how soon they will get the figure after release. I’ve given up on local shops for TT Mall stuff because it takes way too long these days. I ordered MP Crosscut from a North American shop and I finally got it just a few weeks ago. And that was after I complained about the wait and they ended up buying and shipping it from another store. Didn’t ask them to do that and it was a nice gesture. But for a new mold like Skyfire I’m not willing to wait that long.

Wow, four months early? That would be surprising to say the least.

I have a pre-order on Pulse for her and the No Way Home Spider-Men set, since they were scheduled to release around the same time. Wonder if Hasbro will ship them separately even though I'm in Canada, or hang on to her for a few months, haha.
