I have the upper half of Thunderking combined and the thing is really heavy so i understand the need for the knee brace and heel brace. But i still wish that those are optional.

 

Well... When Thorilla comes out, I'm sure that someone is going to have a extra Land Bull and borrow a wolf. Then can-do testing with and without the extra support. I do like the extra support for the ankles and the knee support. But the back knee support doesn't look right... But it looks like maybe you can fold them down and make them not stick out at all. But have them hanging down....?

 

Thing is, I own 2 bulls. Thorilla will have the 2nd wolf with him, so in a sense, Thunderking will be complete but technically, it'll be by cheating  

 

Just so I understand the combined mode's weapons, all 8 figures contribute? All 8 figures have a gun and a melee weapon ie; sword, battle-axe, sledge hammer, correct?

And all 8 guns build the combined mode's gun? Ditto 8 melee weapons build the combined mode's sword?

I'm guessing Cang (in their creativity) would be wanting no parts left over when Thunderking is combined.

 

Oh right... forgot that Thorilla came with the other foot. Guess you can do the testing for us!

 

@Magna Jet Convoy, Well, all 8 members do contribute to the sword, but only 5 out of the 8 contribute to the cannon. Kinglion has his own heavy artillery, which is why he doesn't have any guns for the cannon. The wolves have their own guns, but not in connection to the cannon. But each member does have their own weapon(s) as part of the set..

No promises, but I'll give it what I can when the time comes. That is, if someone else doesn't beat me to it first  

 

It seems as if the back knee supports will inhibit the ability to bend the legs. Almost like a statue.

 

There's 3 point of articulation on those braces, they defintely can bend along with the knees. Though I'd expect some loud squeaks from them.

 

I think "giant rhino" is a better name than "huge rhino".

 

I get the need for the extra support, but the concept of knee braces is weird to me since this isn't the norm.. I think I would almost prefer some sort of stand with support arms to display it, but I guess we will see.

I feel like that person in the back of the theater, patiently reading their phone until the end of the movie. Because honestly, I’m only still here for the rhino.

I am liking the design of the gorilla, though, and may be interested depending on the deco. Looks pretty cool in robot mode.

 

Had to dremel out a lot of material from the jinbao head but doesn't look bad imo. It'll work until I modify the CT head with a face mask. The fang mouth isn't doing it for me

I don’t like the toothy mouth, either (it reminds me of the Insecticon Bombshock on TF Prime).

 

Yeah, the teeth are a bad look.
Mod looks great though!

 

Still hoping we get an alternate head sculpt at some point. Preferably something a bit more g1ish like that one, but at the very least, give us a larger version of the original. One of the weak points of this set (for me anyway) is how small the combined mode head is.

 

Thanks go to @Rodann for the "heads" up on the head removal. I thought it would be much more complicated
