And from this design method come design sacrifices. The lower legs of Vortex, Blastoff and First Aid are huge and out of proportion with the rest of their bodies, to make space available for the fists. Now it helps that their alt-modes are bulky, so they somewhat get away with it, but the Stunticons are all flat race cars with very little space to work with, unless you shape them like vans. There is the possibility of making the hands smaller, I suppose.

The feet happened to work because of Swindle and Brawl's boxy shape, which was good fortune, but they can't do the same with Groove and Streetwise (the Defensor feet are part of Hot Spot), and I imagine it also applies to Menasor.

Even if they managed to get fists and feet into the Stunticon limbs, there is no way they can achieve all-in-one with Motormaster unless they put all the Menasor parts hidden in the trailer and have Motormaster step into it like a Pretender shell. I suppose that still counts as all-in-one. :D

I find myself fully agreeing with mx-01 archon, now if you would excuse me, I need to go outside and see if the sky turned red. :p

Okay but hear me out. What if they make a Menasor that doesn't mimic his worst look?

I already said earlier that a toy/Ox Menasor would of course be perfectly doable. You'd have to put up with absolutely zero of the dumb, impossible shit the animation model does.

And honestly, that'd be quite welcome, as a contrast to all the previous attempts at the character.

I feel like Toon Menasor doesn't look as bad if you make the limbs the same colour as the car bots like XTB did for his arms (or even with the cars on the front cause if you count the commercials it could be seen as toon accurate).

But yeah a non-toon Menasor, (either toy or OX as I doubt it would be IDW) would probably be the far more likely options.

    I agree with that assessment.

Even if it was doable for MMC, why chose a losing battle when attempting an all-in-one Menasor?

It would probably result in a toy that is terrible to handle and wouldn’t make the majority of fans happy. Plus, there is a lot of competition and market saturation out there with Menasor.

It is much easier and more rewarding for MMC to tackle a combiner that lends itself better to the all-in-one gimmick and that hasn’t been done already 4.5 times.

As I said in the Maximas Pro thread, maybe MMC surprises all us naysayers and teaches us a lesson.

Still managed a total of a 3 great modes incl combiner. I am amazed they got to do it and how MMC did it.

Which is enough "toon" for most us. The rest can get the toy upgrade (Like me)

That will go for most G1 combiners save Devastator. Who has 6 members.

There you go! You anwsered your own question!
The compromise of MMC lies in that the toon version of the character is not 100% spot on. Nor are the character heights. This is because MMC wants to have that all-built-in concept.
    Thats where they challange themselves.

Since all these companies are doing partsforming, MMC doesnt have to. They can just go with all-built-in. Or atleast attempt it.

The rest all have their good and bad parts. I oersonally am a very big fan of ft Motomaster and love that his trailer folds in his robotform. But I expect MMC to compromise at certain points. And I dont care. I buy these combiners from them just for that all-in-one.

I'm not asking for anything. If anything im merely consuming a product that MMC proudly presents as an all in one
Unless you do it good. Your definition of failure is very different from someone elses.
Are you sure you are on the right board? Is this a little bit of a personal frusteration you currently have in your life?
Because that whole text kind of feels a bit of a personal attack.

Nobody here demands anything and we certainly dont go giving orders to MMC.
They have given themselves a challange to create these all in one versions. And we hope they succeed in it.
So when we talk about the Stunticons or Aerialbots, we keep that in mind.

Well, it counts as something? :p  ;)

I think there is a possibility to keep the fingers flat in the legs for the arm bots and have that chest comeout and swivel to have an connection part to the shoulder.

Both legs can attach streetwise style, however i would have toes hidden in their legs to have bigger feet in combinedmode.

Motormaster could then be almost like Onslaught but in reverse (front of the truck are legs instead of arms.) Make the trailer less long than Primes, but reasonable. Motormaster will have a kibble sacrifice or have it detachable for those that dont want it. Part of it hides the head, chest, arms and Menasors chest/head. Maybe the trailerpanels could convert into menasors chest. And you could do a swapout toon-toy like Bruticus.

Well said @mx-01 archon , well said. With your comments in mind, Abominus would seem to be a likely candidate for MMC combiner #3. We know it will be a Decepticon/Destron. And the blocky, chunky modes of the 4 limb-bots could comfortably store all-in-one hands & feet of the combiner - like Assaultus & Maximus Pro do well. And there's no market saturation of Terrorcons/Abominus - heck there's only 1 competitor and its still not complete.

Looking at MMC's marketing strategy, they've opted to do combiner teams as pairs. First out was Combaticons. The opposite team to them was the Protectobots. If they were to do Abominus as number #3 (and providing it sells well), it points to Computron as #4. As far as I know, the Technobots have yet to be given the 3P treatment. Plus - the 4 limb-bots have enough chunk to hide combiner hands & feet.

If Abominus truly is next (fingers crossed), there will be at least one guaranteed sale by me. Personally I would love to see what magic MMC pulls off to turn Hungurr's double dragon heads into stable legs.

They could have the leg bots form a solid brick with the car parts just becoming an empty shell behind them, it still retains the structural strength while having the look. Combiner joints doesn't have anything to do with it, since all they'll be doing is attaching to sections after the joints, like they did with Onslaught and Hotspot. Also, streetwise as a car leg is bigger than the stunticons as car legs since they're full cars on boxes while he becomes a car so big that his hood has to be collapsed to become a leg, this means they can just use parts of the car to create a smaller, facsimile of the regular alt mode like what the Aerialbots did.

THIS. A thousand times this. Why does everyone seem to want/make his worst-looking iteration? Ocular Max---please live up to your name and do a more toy-based/Studio Ox-style Menasor some day...

Sold to me too. The Bruticus/Defensor and Abominus/Computron pairs are my favorite combiner pairs. An Abominus, a G1 accurate non-stylized Abominus, would be heavensent.

There have been two 3P Technobots... Warbotron and Maketoys. Both take a few liberties with the original designs and the Maketoys one is a lot smaller than most combiners nowadays. I do love what they did with the alt-modes though. (Strafe is basically an 80s shoot-em-up ship and Afterburner is a Tron cycle.)

I regularly comment about the trippy, psychedelic colour schemes of all thngs G2. I'm reminded of a Simpsons episode where Crusty the Clown rewatches an older episode of himself during the 1960's and laments words to the effect of; "oh man - what was I on back then!!!????"

    I'm forced to concur the acid trip colours of G2 also extended to the way the G2 toy commercials were executed in their day. Look no further than the G2 Combaticons vs. Aerialbots for further over-the-top intensity;

Man, just what the heck were Hasbro on back then?????

I was a little kid in the G2 era but I remember having every Combaticon except for Onslaught, I only saw him in the store one time so I begged my parents for it and they said no. Never saw him again.

    Hard times.
