Earthrise and SS86 are pretty well equal in my book. Which is why I'm passing on SS86 since I already have Earthrise. And there's nothing wrong with Siege, I just prefer Ironhide's Earth mode.

TL;DR, I didn't vote in the poll since they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

 

Earthrise > Siege > SS86

I like the slightly stylized takes of the Generations lines. Hyper-accuracy is what turned me off entirely from the MP line. Especially when it comes to G1, playing the accuracy battle will always be a losing effort. SS86 looks extremely boring and uninspired, and $10 more expensive because…reasons. Hell at least Hot Rod somewhat made up for it with extra weapons and blast effects. SS86 Ironhide doesn’t look worth it. Those hinges bulging out by the sides make the vehicle mode actually look worse than the Earthrise version.

The shield integrating into the Earthrise figure’s alt mode is cool. Can’t get much better for weapon storage than integration. Earthrise looks closer to the IDW look that I’m fond of, so no reason to double dip.

I hope this re-visiting of characters we JUST got in WFC doesn’t continue. Arcee was an exception since her Earthrise figure was universally panned. Brand stagnation FTW.

 

Earthrise has not insignificant parts-forming which can be off-putting for some.

 

I went with option 5. SS86 will be the most G1 accurate CHUG Ironhide ever. Siege was never trying to be that…all he was going for is a decent Cybertronian CHUG Ironhide…and he succeeded. Earthrise feels like the G1 CHUG Ironhide that just missed the mark in enough ways to keep us wanting something better. I am starting to wonder how many more Ironhides they’re going to give us before they take a break from him. Three new molds in the past 3-4 years is a lot for anybody not named Optimus Prime or Bumblebee.

 

As someone who rarely likes any modern TFs, I’d have to say SS86 wins by default. SS86 has a lot of problems, but at least it isn’t an uninspired cyberpunk vehicle masquerading as a Cybertronian alt-mode (honestly could be said for most of the Siege carformers) or a partsformer. Siege Ironhide just barely gets second place because at least he isn’t a partsformer.

 

I dont care about alt modes so i gotta go with ER bot looking better than SS86( no overpaid bias either since I got the ER pack for retail). Siege is a good bot but I prefer earth modes.

 

Ima a sucker for cybertronian alt modes so siege is my number 1.

I don't mind partsforming, and for me I'd rather take more accessories and playability then having something be super accurate or over engineered so earth rise is my number 2.

 

1. SS86 looks realy good, definitely the best one Hasbro has done. He's not perfect but no figure from Hasbro is. He is good enough for me.
2. Siege is good for what it is. It looks good as cybertronian truck/van thing. The squared look provides nice homage to WW look and contrast to more rounder earth mode van.
3. Earthrise is just a bad attempt at adapting boxy, squared mode to look like more rounder van. It looks bad and doesn't work. The shield roof is just bad with those windows attached to it.

 

SS86 looks best so far. Then Earthrise. Last is Siege and its barely-there altmode.

 

I actually prefer the look and design of Siege of the three, but at this point most of my "core" autobot all have earth modes, and while I own ER Ironhide I feel he's blatantly inferior to SS86. So I guess I'll be getting SS86. I kinda doubt that I'll be letting go of my Siege Ratchet though, the shoulder-mounted repair arm is too much fun.

 

I wonder how many are going to change their mind after they get SS 86 in hand and:

• Realize there's virtually no ground clearance with the robot hips being clear as day from a lot of angles hanging under it.
• Get mad at the three different reds
• Are upset when those clear plastic hinges break after two transformations or even in box.
• Scratches on the clear plastic or have poorly painted copies and have electric clear blue parts highly visible.

 

Siege Ironhide is okay. I just think it works better as Crosshairs.

 

I think each one has been an improvement. So SS86>ER>Siege

I like the Siege mold for Crosshairs but not IR and Ratchet.

 

We need to differentiate between the release Earthrise and one with the feet fixed by third parties. That changes the rankings for me.

 

I'm assuming it changes it to 3p-enhanced Earthrise first, then SS86 and then Siege?

 

Siege first for not looking like a pile of untextured boxes.

 

I'm not sure, I'd need to have SS86 in hand, but I really love my 3PE Earthrise. I put a lot of time and effort into it. As produced, the feet hanging off the back would put it lower than Siege, because at least Siege had a unified aesthetic.

 

Just based on reviews of SS86 and ER, my choice would still be Siege Ironhide. Sure it has some problems and the engineering on SS86 looks superior, but it's the simplicity of his transformation that I adore. The flow of it got ruined by the shield on the ER retool.

 

Dk Guard is the best color scheme.
Ss86 is the OG he's going to be king

 

After watching the reveal stream, ss86 is the best for me, as his accessories can remain stored for transformation by the looks of it. Next in line is siege, then ERonhide.
