Because it's just $10 and piling an extra $10 on top of $80 doesn't have the same drawback as $10 on top of $5 or something. Personally I prefer to buy from U.S. retailers when possible for what I feel is better and more convenient after sales service.

This. When it's like $30 cheaper, sure, I'll buy from ShowZ or TF Safari, but $10 is worth it just to just have to spend two weeks wondering if my order was lost in the mail or held up by COVID lockdowns.

I’m fine with how this looks and the price seems totally appropriate to me, but that transformation…woof. It’s so fiddly and tedious that I had to stop the video halfway through because it was giving me anxiety.

Now that I've watched that video, wow that's some transformation. This thing has a very high parts count and I'm not entirely sure why they went that route on something this size.

I think I need to wait for reviews on this one.

I like the idea of this, and I don’t think $80 is out-of-line for a 3p “voyager.” but the more we see, the more my enthusiasm cools. I don’t think it looks bad in any specific way, and am not ruling it out, but it very well may lose out to other figures I’m excited about.

    He’s not even a voyager(+). Smaller than MMC’s Prime.

And it’s as @Kuma Style said — he lacks that “polish” most figures have. He looks very very “plastic-y”/a little better than very good 3D prints.

Had he been a little better looking plastic-quality wise, and added/more paint apps, and just a little bit taller … I’d have pre-ordered in a heartbeat :(

Nah, he's definitely a voyager, MMC is not accurate chug scaling.

MMC’s Prime is accurate though, when scaling with voyagers whom are slightly smaller than he is.

Prime isn’t (wasn’t) as tall as he was in G1, when compared to IDW. G1 Prime towers over Car bots (whom are voyagers) — not so in IDW.

Though I suppose this guy *is* a voyager? Either way, he won’t look good next to SXS Rodimus, MMC Rodimus, the GT car bots and/or GC Prowl.

This is like complaining mainline isn't masterpiece scale though, voyager+ carbots isn't chug scale.

    YouTube (Legacy):
generations used to have have larger carbots like classics sideswipe mold, classics prowl mold, rts jazz, etc. Foc going into T30 everyone got smaller.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not really complaining. Just saying I would have snagged him if he was slightly taller. And since he isn’t, and won’t look good in my collection which revolves T30/voyager Generations and mostly MMC stuff; I won’t be getting him, sadly.

Though I seem to remember the “G” in “Chug” was for “generations” — which included some of the T30/voyager bots and such I believe? Ah well.

    I’ll live vicariously through y’all’s photos :)

Technically he was taller, but so where all the characters compared to the original cartoon. But in terms of the scale in relation to each other, IDW Prime and the car bots were more similar to how Prime and the Autobot Brothers scaled in RID.
So if anything MMC's Optimus actually scales well with MP cars for the IDW display pretty well.

Yeah. This is the perfect scale for me. Prime was indeed taller — but he isn’t as tall as he is in “MP scale Prime” compared to MMC voyagers and/or even the MP voyager car bots. MT Jazz and GT Jazz are about the same size.

Woah, it has an opening matrix compartment? Did I somehow miss that in the previous video?

Previous video didn't show it off, although technically this Prime design having a full Matrix isn't accurate but that's just nitpicking.

Really looking at this more, it feels like they modeled him off of how Casey Coller drew the design rather than how he was in the comic. Thinner waist and wheels only appearing on the top of his arms, rather than the more bulk he had and the wheels forming up a good bit of the arm in the actual design.

Don't think it was in the last one, it erases any doubts I had about buying it, I know this Optimus didn't have a matrix, but I love when they have one.
Edit: Having re watched the first video the Matrix chamber isn't opened in it, but the close ups of the chest during transformation do show the matrix if you look closely
