Dang I remember reading this series of books as a little kid, had to do biography reports for school with these all the time

 

Arrived yesterday:

 

"Give me your face."

 

I thought this was kind of funny. In the chapter about Generation 2, the book features a picture of what is clearly the Earthrise Megatron in the Generations Selects G2 color getup.



Also, this bizarre error from the Unicron Trilogy chapter. Um… no. That’s just G1. In fact, isn’t that taken from the G1 manga?

Also, another interesting choice was to just brush past Dreamwave altogether and jump straight into talking about IDW’s G1 reboot as if the former never happened. Unsurprising, really. Simplify it for the kids and ignore the Pat Lee dumpster fire.

Great story. I'm very impressed with books and publications like this.

 

I kind of suspect they used an image search for those.

Particularly if you searched for "Super Robot Life-Form Transformers". Which nearly every Transformers series through Armada is some variation of in Japan except for Car Robots and Animated. But if you search for that without the "Legend of the Microns" subtitle, you get almost exclusively G1 images and a lot of manga. (The Beast Wars series leave off the "Robot".)

 

Apparently a considerable portion of the artwork in this book is swiped from a large variety of sources, sometimes to hilarious effect.

 

Since I highly doubt they'd be covered on the 4th page before TFTM, great to see RID shafted once again.

 

I feel like an information book with inaccurate information kind of fails at its sole purpose.

 

Written by the guy who did the Kre-O encyclopedia and some rescue bots kids books, among many other kids books.

That 'G2 Megatron' pic is certainly something of an unforced error.

 

Apparently, their main source was Screenrant, so explains a lot.

That explains why I thought it looked very “G1 manga”. I just recently got the G1 manga from Viz and I kept thinking the Megatron from that image looked like it was pulled straight from the cover of the first Viz volume but I couldn’t find an image inside the manga that corresponded to the one found in WTSOTT.

 

I’m not surprised to see that RiD2001 was left out, as it’s something of the franchise’s red headed stepchild (despite significant toy line success), but the omission of the Aligned continuity is a bit weirder.
