Glorious work as always! Imagine entering this in next Gunpla Expo and taking first prize again! Then do the Freedom the next year.

haha yea I was thinking of entering it into the GBWC but I dont think I have a chance there. Those super custom weathered dioramas are always the winners :(

You kind of proved that wrong with your super clean, metal framed Providence (with the one unpainted gold pipe fitting on the Dragoon pack).

As somebody who has taken to entering the small contests at the NMRA meetings every month, let me tell you that there's no harm in entering the contest. Models that I've entered that I didn't think would do well have had surprising results and while I've only won first place once (technically twice, but I don't really count the second time because I was the only one who entered the category that month :lol ), I'm still in third place in the cumulative scoring so given I'm up against modelers with more years of experience than I've been alive, that's still something I'm proud of.

Even if you don't win anything, it's worth the experience alone and I think you should go for it. You lose nothing and you may do better than you think!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I’ll try to build another MG before the deadline and enter the contest.

Finished the RG Hi-Nu this evening. Absolutely phenomenal kit. I love the RG Nu but hate the lopsided, rickety fin funnel wing. Hi-Nu has no such limitation, and the parts separation is amazing. The gold and silver accents work wonderfully even if the silver leaves a few nubs. This is one of those RGs that's just fun to handle.

Your pristine paint jobs are always more impressive than overdone weathering. You consistently put out professional-level customs that look better than Bandai's own painted product samples.

Does it have to be a MG? Because you could make a RE/100 sing like it was a MG, with the added bonus of the RE/100s being unusual suits not normally seen. Frankly, if you haven't done one already, I'd love to see what you could do to the RE/100 Zaku II FZ.

@SPLIT LIP The RG Hi-Nu really is on a whole different level compared to the majority of Gundam kits. It really is a top tier kit. I'm tempted to pick up a second to display with the Susan Model AWS kit I picked up.

The Nu has always been one if my all-time favourite suits, but the fin funnels being on one side only has always looked off to me. So, I swapped the beam saber mount out for the spare fin funnels mount and did a 3/3 split on them. It looks so much better. Only downside is now there's nowhere for that sick custom beam saber to go.

So my first airbrushing experience is going okay. I tested a lot of sprue junk before doing the actual model but of course there's been errors. I fucked up on the amount of thinner, forgot to fasted the reservoir cap so paint got all over the brush and holster, got the hose tangled, all kinds of rookie mistakes. Luckily the kit I'm painting is the FRS Kamen Rider W FangJoker, so it's a pretty simple paint job. Only issue I had was I had to leave the project for an hour-ish and the nozzle on the airbrush got a bit gunked with paint and sputtered a bit, so now I start spraying away from the parts first to avoid that.

Learning a lot, honestly. It's both less and more complicated than I imagined. The real fun is going to be cleaning the mess I made. :lol

    Many thanks!

I did the Zaku FZ a few years ago and the Efreet last year. I like the line and im on board with the full mechanics Seed stuff as well. I just feel the articulation on the RE/100 is a little bit more limited than the newer MGs.

Yeah, it takes some getting used to.

But as long as you have a space to do it, things will get easier.

Unfortunately for me, because of the degree of set-up and teardown required to use mine (move cars out of the garage, set up the dual fan circulator in the window, move the table into the garage with the plastic cover, etc.), I prefer having a large number of things that need to be painted before I even think about breaking it out and I just haven't had that except maybe the gold for two of my kits, and even then I just used the last of the spray can I had lying around (though it wasn't enough to cover everything so might still need to do that.)

Are you saying the Eclipse Gundam PLUS its Striker pack for $60?

I’ve heard good things about the eclipse and if the striker pack is free that’s a great deal.

But the hazel though. It's much cheaper than aftermarket.

TBH, the only reason the MG Hazel kits were so pricey was that the majority of them were only available as P-Bandai exclusives which were printed in lower quantities. Outside the fact that the designs were fan-favorites and they were P-Bandai's, most of the MG Hazels in reality aren't anything too special and the engineering and design of the kits themselves were just basic at best. AFAIK, most of them are just simply retools/remolds of the MG Gundam Mk II 2.0 from 2005 and when you build them, it really shows. They do look good, feel pretty sturdy, and can do some basic poses, but if you went into building the MG Hazels and expect them to be able to do anything more than that, you'll only be disappointed.

The MG Eclipse is a more recent standard release and aside from the incredibly fragile hip joint assembly (Which luckily can be rectified with third-party die-cast replacement parts), the Eclipse has a more satisfying and engaging build.

If I were to choose, I would honestly go for the MG Eclipse first and 60 USD for both the Eclipse and the High-Maneuver Striker Pack is a pretty good deal (Since the High-Maneuver Striker Pack on its own is close to around 40 USD)

To celebrate Father's Day in Taiwan, my wife surprised me with the MG Red Astray Kai. I've never really been into the Astrays all that much, so don't really know much about the kit. Anything to watch for?
