this feels perfectly timed as i've been on a tmnt kick lately, so guess ill start with a post of an idea i had that got no attention on reddit and see what others might think here

What if Shredder and Slash were a merged character? hear me out; so i recently finished a rewatch of "secret of the ooze" and at the end when we see super shredder, it made me think of that, of super shredder from 2012 and of what if we had an outright proper mutant shredder in a series. i tried to think what would be a good fit for him and i thought the most fitting and poetic would be a turtle(a snapping turtle of course) since he hates them. this also reminded me of what happened to hun in "turtles forever" and how he was in a way the slash of that universe. i figure a similar scenario could easily happen to shredder as a later development of a series. this seemed even more fitting remembering that slash is often characterized as having bladed gauntlets similar to shredder; when i was younger i actually thought slash stole them from shredder. i imagine a body design similar to either the 2012 or IDW/mutants in Manhattan versions of slash, and having the blade gauntlets, as well as bladed forearm/shin and shoulder pads and of course his helmet, minus the face covering.

anyone else think this would be an interesting turn tot take in a future series?

We SORTA got that in the 2003's movie Turtles Forever where Hunn got mutated into a giant spiked turtle.

I do like the idea, though as maybe a season 2 or 3 consequence of a season ending fight between the TMNT and Shredder.

Okay, the Rise of the TMNT movie was really entertaining and actually far darker than I expected it would be. A hell of a send off for this incarnation!

so i love the utrom shredder and that look in general is just amazing aside from a few small little tweaks i would make but dont have the ability to. so below are links to the images of the regular 03 shredder and his turtles forever design. was wondering if someone could edit some small details for me on both. much appreciated for anyone that can. the same edits to both would be...

-a thin segmented line down the middle of the faceplate showing the metal is angled

-coping the wrist claws onto the right hand so he has them on both

-moving the foot logo pin to the center of his torso on the belt/sash

-just in the case of the original 03 look, recolor the belt/sash red to match the forever look

I've recently been having the thought of a alternate universe Raphael that got brainwashed in to becoming the next Shredder, but was also mutated a second time and became the Slash Shredder.

Sounds like something that would be in one of those wild "bad future" story lines this franchise occasionally puts out.
Like the 2012 series' Mutant Apocalypse episodes, where the twist was that an insane Leonardo became the mutant warlord that was terrorizing the wastelands.

So I'm still on a retro cartoon/show kick and have been watching the 87 TMNT cartoon. On the "Red Skies" end. Season 9.

Can't believe it lasted this long......

Did they ever make toys for Carter and HAVOC characters?

No I don’t remember seeing Carter being made a figure back then. In fact by 1996 Playmates teamed the Turtles with Savage Dragon.

Is this the right place to post this? If not, I'm sorry. I finally got out my NECA TMNT set, and am trying to get Splinter to sit on a couch, but his tail is prohibiting that. Also, I tried to sit April down, and she popped off at the waist ... it is a ball peg it looks like, so she fits back together but way easier to pop off now. Thoughts on these two things?

I just finished Turtles 2003 today, man that was awesome. I found Fast Forward a bit boring, took me the longest time to watch that season, but back to the sewers was cool again, I just didn't like the gradual style changes the last two seasons. My disc concluded with Turtles Forever to my surprise and so I watched that again. The second time I watched Turtles Forever, I loved it even more. Guess the first time around I could appreciate only half of it, because I haven't seen the 2003 show yet.

I guess 2003 is my favorite incarnation now :D

But I still need to watch the 2012 show and I even found out some time ago I didn't even finish the original show as a kid. I had no idea it ran for so many seasons. But I don't know if I can go back to that show after the one true Shredder, Demon Shredder and Viral Shredder

So glad I took the time to catch up on this great show. It's ninja time!

Congrats on finishing! In case you haven't watched it, there's a "bonus 14th episode" of Back to the Sewer that was initially comprised of shorts and then edited together. It's up on youtube in full, here's the link

Awesome, only mentioned it because I know a lot of people either leave it off of collected stuff or forget it even exists

Congrats! Fast Forward is a good example of a show trying too hard to go in a certain direction. I remember the first Dark Turtles episode, Raph spent the episode hurling insults at the Dark Turtles and every single line was intended to be LOL funny and it just felt like the script was trying too hard. The season still has interesting stuff, like again the Dark Turtles, Dunn’s subplot, and Bishop is easily the best part of the season. I honestly do like the visual look of the season… overall. It made for great toys and it would’ve been a fun video game. But I felt like the plots that came up became two dimensional kids cartoon stuff like bodyjacking, trapped in a video game, big race.

Back to the Sewers lost me, it rehashed Leo’s angst arc, old characters didn’t really come back, Cyber Shredder and Khan were really generic. Still had some good moments but I actually don’t know if I watched every episode all the way through. Even before I knew the show was ending, I could tell as a kid something was amiss.

That was abominable, I remember watching each short and being bored to tears. It was so gimmicky like a cheap knock off of Power Rangers. Stockman making an army of mutant dinosaurs was also too weird for me and that’s saying a lot given the show regularly went into science fiction and the supernatural.

I'll give Flash Forward credit for giving characters like Bishop and Baxter some good closure, it was worth watching that season for that.

The way their arc actually causes much of the positive change seen in the FF setting is a really powerful, interesting and well done choice. Cancelled episodes would’ve shown a now human again Stockman becoming a legitimate hero and join the war against a resurgent Ch’Rell.

I just wish the show ran longer to show the Shredder war. That's now not possible anymore after Turtles Forever. Uh and of course because that happened a long time ago. I forgot I was watching an old show for a moment. Can't believe this was already 20 years ago. To me it was one of the new shows that I couldn't just watch yet. 2003 feels like it was just yesterday.

2003 Turtles got pretty damn dark at times particularly during its fourth season.

The guy who did his long multi part essay on the rise and fall of 2003 argued that the overly dark stuff ultimately contributed to its demise, since Playmates was the one who asked for a lighter tone and that led to Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers. I won’t act like some of the grislier stuff was completely warranted, like T9851’s guts reforming, Stockman’s body dissolving, etc. They could’ve done without it, but I don’t mind it either.

And the irony that this was from 4Kids, and they butchered One Piece for being too violent/adult.
