Now to wait for its inevitable retools into Diaclone variants and Hoist!

I'm only now realizing the amount of similarities between G1 Trailbreaker and Animated Ratchet.

Oh, so they did consider giving Trailbreaker the cartoon accurate drainpipe-looking shoulder weapon arm at the earlier stage of the design.

And we get to see how they considered various methods for the optional face changing before settling on option C because it would be the easiest to handle.

I really like they are doing this figure and the look. I look forward to the possible Hoist retool as well. I am a little concerned about the waist and pelvic area as that looks like it could be the weak point on the design.

I looked and Trailbreaker is supposed to have the narrow hips... so I take back my previous post. Still hate MP Hot Rod though. He needs a redo badly.

Yup, especially with SS-86 Hot Rod as a starting point. A larger size and even higher budget should allow them to do something about tucking those knees properly behind the car's rear end.

MP Hot Rodimus got short-changed, getting stuck in that budgetary mid-lane between the Hasui era and the current full-toon one. The Movie 86 character designs really need that next-level engineering to make Floro Dery's magical size-shifting transformations to work.

Yeah but you've got to admit with Takara's recent history it is a fair question.

    Yeah he desperately needs one.
The only good thing about the current MP Hot Rod is the vehicle mode, which was designed by the same guy that did SS86 Hot Rod.
Just give the MP Hot Rod v2 project to him and we all win.

MP-28 isnt horrible, just not as good as he should be. He's a relic of the $60 MP age and pays for it. Horrible goes to Tracks, none of the modern articulation and a one piece waist flap.

Lay off my boy Tracks, yo! :p
Whatever he lacks in articulation, he makes up for in pure style, baby! That sparkly paint finish is just *chef’s kiss* <3

Is roadrage/loudpedal as good as Tracks?

Exact same engineering (Roadrage has some different sculpted bits, but that changes none of her actual mechanics), and I've never heard anything about egregious tolerance variances between them all.

One functional difference between those releases, though, is that the toy accurate gun included with Roadrage and Loudpedal doesn't store anywhere in car mode. It can attach to the underside of the car using the flight stand port, but then you can't put it on the stand. So a bit awkward.
