I should also add, you'll note the Breastmasters aren't involved in the final Liokaiser combiner. So those could be excluded from the mainline release to ensure retail pricing holds. Then, like Knok and Skar for ER Doubledealer...they can sell the Breastmasters as a Selects release through fan channels.

Liokaiser is a perfect candidate for a Haslab project. We could get all six members with their Breastforce partners and scaled with the new Star Saber in one complete package.

I really don't want Hasbro to spread out their releases over multiple waves or release the Breastforce separately or, God forbid, make them exclusives. Just give me a Haslab so I can get all of it at once.

Okay but that appears to be the new normal for combiner teams (or even "teams" in general) going forward. It's found success with SS Devy and the 86 Dinobots, and appears to be working for Menasor.

Exactly. Separate Liokaiser releases would risk a recurrence of the Takara Generations Selects Seacon problem.

Kids don't read comics? Seriously, you are trying to use that as an argument? Comics are literally made for kids. That would be like saying "Kids don't buy Transformers toys, only the people on this site do."

As for your point about Liokaiser's limbs being remolds of each other, that is true but if you actually quoted my whole point he would still take up 6 figure slots. Even if Jarguar and Leozack would be packed together (which the only time they have done this is with redecos in recent years not brand new molds) that would still take up 2 slots in the roster for the year. From a recent interview with Ben from Hasbro we know that they were a bit hesitant to make the Stunticons in Generations even over two years due to it taking up 5 slots and that is a much more popular character. And yes, Menasor is a much more popular character as evident by him showing up in multiple media over the 4 decades since his debut and the fact that 6 3P companies have made thier own version of Menasor in the last 3 years alone while Liokaiser has had 2 3P iterations ever.

Also if you actually want to have a discussion, you might want to quote everything instead of just cherry picking sentences out of context just to support your point. It's a bit disingenuous. Like when a movie puts a review quote on the box saying "You will be blown away" when the full quote is "You will be blown away by how terrible this movie actually is, if you can call it a movie".

Except that model has already transitioned to retail with the SS Constructicons, and expanded upon with stuff like the SS86 Dinobots and now Legacy Stunticons. Whatever the "Seacon problem" may have been...it didn't stop HasTak from implementing that model on future groups.

I'm going to take the phrase "Comics are literally made for kids" as literally as you took my comment about kids not reading comics. Have you actually been to a comic shops and seen some of the stuff on the walls? Okay, now that we've gotten purposeful misreadings of each other out of the way, comics aren't at the same level of kids media as cartoons/movies/etc. Jhiaxus being in the comics is not the same exposure as if he had been in any of the Bayfilms or recent TV shows. And even then, you're still just arguing over who's the more obscure pick.

And? Menasor takes up 5. Individually who the f**k are any of the Stunticons to kids? Answer: They're nobodies. Dead End specifically was around enough in Cyberverse and Motormaster/Menasor showed up in RiD2015 despite a few of the limbs being different characters. But Dead End isn't even the first guy out the gate for the Stunticons and RiD2015 is appraoching a decade old.

Do you know why HasTak think in trilogies these days? Because they've figured out the cycle is about 3 years where they can hold the average kids interest and at that point they've gotta reboot to ensure new kids coming in to the franchise feel like they're coming in on the ground floor of something.

The selling point of Menasor there is cool cars and a big truck that turn in to one big robot. Likewise, Liokaiser is two tanks and three jets that turn in to a big robot. Jarugar is also there. Stop thinking like a collector and start thinking like a kid.

Everyone complains about this and then they quote an entire post and miss shit that was said anyway. Not that it matters since in at least one instance you knew exactly what I was saying, quoted it, and misinterpreted it anyway.

Regardless, I'm bored now. What people think a character "deserves" and what the market has shown it can bare are two different things. There's reasons beyond "obscurity" that lead to Saber being a HasLab as "obscurity" alone didn't stop Jhiaxus.

Kids know comics, not like the old days, but there are kids who read comics. I know Jhiaxus, he was a big want of mine, and have no idea who Liokaiser is. Just saying. Anyway cool toys are cool toys.

The Seacons were produced and released in batches of two, but one set was either under/overproduced so there don't exist enough of some to complete everyone's set.
Well yeah, most art of the G1 toys looks better than the original toy, as do most Generations figures.

The Seacons were unlimited when it came to how many they had available. Someone could have ordered a thousand if they wanted. I do recall the last two only having a two week order window while the others were a month, but there was still no limit on how many could be produced.

How were they unlimited? They were a Takara Gen Selects release, not a HasLab, so they weren’t made to order.

Actually, they were made to order. Takara said "hey, here's these things you can order, you have till this day to do it. We won't run out of stock because they're not produced yet, but once the cutoff date is reached, that's it, no more orders will be taken" (paraphrased of course).

It’s been a couple years, but I could swear they had a timed preorder period, not a set limit of product. They were more or less being made to order.

    edit:
That’s how I remember it as well. Thank you!

Yep, all of Takara's Generations Selects were that way if I recall correctly, as were their Grand Maximus and Greatshot.
