Also, I just love how the colors worked for this photo. Using only silver and grey tones in the display made them pop. I really get inspired by the chrome, transparent, and bright colored figures of this line...
These photos are great! Man, I really need to bust out my Micromen again, I have a lot and they deserve some nice photos...
I grew up with Micronauts and - just as the comic was hitting newsstands - learned about Microman from one of my dad’s coworkers who’d lived in Japan. Getting my hands on a KO cassette battle bike at a flea market just after Pharoid was released started me hunting for other Micro-related things and an ongoing passion for them. They’re one of the few toy lines I’ve always held onto. As nice as the newer figures look; the quality just isn’t there compared to the real vintage pieces. I have to replace o-rings and occasionally a hand but none of the vintage figures knees have cracked/crumbled under their own weight while just standing on a shelf. Several of my MagneForce Icarus figures magnets have lost cohesion resulting in exploded chests as the magnets degenerate into gray, fuzzy fibers. The line got better with the Road Spartan and Assassin Force figures but Biomachine Force had already killed any US distribution. Funnily enough, I should get a Mandarake order with a few of the later figures for a custom this week. I own a Black Tiger tank, a Rolling Thunder and scored a decent Jetter & Bongo combo a few years ago but my favorites are the Titan Space Knights who I’ve bought far too many multiples of. Some pics of what I used to keep on display: IMG_3501 (scroll left and right)
Some of the toys from the Microman line were sold under the name Micronauts distributed by Mego in the west during the late 70s. Others appeared in other toy lines such as the Transformers by Hasbro.
More Micros arrived! Microsistel El, and Divemaster Roberto. El can get hella fiddly with all her accessories and loose neck ball joint. While Roberto’s pod is a very solid build. A shame these don’t have proper 5mm ports to mix into weaponizer builds.
Giant Acroyear arrived quicker then expected! Love this dudes colors. Also tried to give him hips with weaponizers, just don’t have the ideal parts for it.
Got a working Biotron! And he was filthy, gave him a good cleaning. Love that a 40 years toy is still compatible with modern ones.
Re-treaded Biotron with tracks from a Tamiya RC Track and Gear set. Trimed them a little to fit, but their a little thick and that’s causing some issues when motorized.
I just discover the thread. I recently undig from storage my 2003-2007 series. Damn, I don't recognize these. Can't find them on microforever, who are they ?
