My understanding is by 1988 Transformers was in decline and there was limited appetite for larger toys. Germany (and Europe, Australia, and Canada) got Overlord much later. I doubt the drop test was to blame during the 80s / 90s, but it probably has limited opportunities for modern reissues.

 

Powermaster Optimus Prime was pretty big. Granted, he is Optimus Prime. But still. It was probably that not enough retailers wanted to order Overlord since other toys began wanting to take up shelf space...especially ones with cartoons.

 

Only one person in this whole thread posted the correct answer for the IDW version: Verity.

Overlord didn’t even care that Fort Max existed. He was just a thing to torture. Nothing special. It was a one-way desire for revenge on Fort Max’s side.

Springer? The only real prolonged interaction they ever had was at the end of the Wreckers saga. Before that, he really only knew Springer as “that guy whose face I tore off”

Megatron, for a long time, yes. But he ultimately gave up on Megatron.

He never gave up on his hatred of Verity Carlo, and she made it her mission to take him down every chance she got.
