I have bought no less than 7 kingdom and legacy Galvatrons. Milage my very from bot to bot depending on batches and distribution. Legacy Galvatrons eyes are are a bit forward. It could be a veriant in the face mask. Hence the reason kingdom back of the head won't sit flush with Kingdom face plate and vice versa.
Thanks for the unsolicited measurement. I know what I'm looking at. The eyes on the Legacy version fill up more of the cavity in the faceplate than the Kingdom version. The eyes on the Legacy version also sit further forward in the cavity as well. Filling more of the cavity by default = wider. Unsolicited and imprecise caliper measurement or not. Human error is certainly a variable when using a caliper.
Filling more does not always equal wider. I even swapped face plates and they all fit just fine. The 'width' is the same. However, I do see better what people are getting at. The outer part of the eyes hit the eye mask opening the same but the inner part looks to be closer to the nose, which suggests a warping issue with the Kingdom back head part. As 2fabdad suggests, there's likely been some production variations since the original reverse shoulder Kingdom Galvatron. I even noticed a looser right lower chest port when going from reverse to corrected shoulder Kingdom galvatron, which is still present on Legacy Galvatron. Behold Galvatron has the same 'eyes' as Legacy Galvatron rather than Kingdom. So, this isn't new for Legacy version. I don't have GS version for comparison. I don't have the reverse shoulder Galvatron anymore to compare either.
I've got both the Kingdom and Legacy version and I don't see a difference. Not in the head/eyes or the coloration.
Update, a couple of months later. One of his legs’ outward movement became noticeably looser soon after buying him. No other joint is like this. It’s not an annoying type of loose, it’s just noticeable since all the others are so pitch-perfectly tight. I have never put this figure on display in my collection. Ever. I can’t even remember if I’ve even taken him upstairs to the room with my shelves in it. He’s remained firmly planted at my desk since I got him, easily within reach. I love him so much.
I just opened up Galvatron, and the ZX upgrade kit too. And boy did I have a blast! Hands down, this is the most fun I've had with a WFC Trilogy mold. He looks athletic and powerful even when standing in a neutral pose, especially after getting the taller back spire and actual feet from the upgrade kit instead of a stubby spire and stumpy hooves. His articulation is great too, especially above the waist. The double elbow is especially expressive, and rotating wrists are surprisingly rare these days. Sadly the ankle joints, while present, have very little range because of the cannon mode support strut inside the leg. The bigger feet also means he balances better, so I could get a better "Behold, Galvatron!" pose than his stock state. The extra gun is fine, it works well and it's a nice homage. I don't think Galvatron needs it however, even though I've put him in display wielding it. (The starship guns that actually came with him, on the other hand, went straight to the parts bin.) The transformation is super fun and intuitive, I had it memorized after just one go in both directions. Never did I feel they half-assed a single part of it just because it's a Cybertronian alt mode, and I also loved that all three legs are articulated so he can aim up or down. The taller spire is especially more prominent in cannon mode, giving Galvy the iconic trialgular silhouette from the front. The bigger feet mean the rear leg is wider, but I don't mind that. It actually looks more realistic to me, since a large support leg would be required to handle the insane amount of recoil the cannon produces. (Also, obligatory "HERE'S A HINT!") The Matrix chain being an actual chain is great. There's a lot of posing opportunities now that it hangs more naturally around his neck. (Galvatron is actually a bit too tall to comfortably sit on Coronation Starscream's throne, but it's a good enough fit. I would have put Hot Rod's head under his foot, but I couldn't pull it off his body.) To sum it up, he's AWESOME! If you don't have the mold yet, snap up the Legacy version as fast as you can. You probably won't need to double-dip if you have the Kingdom one, but I much prefer the clean look on Legacy. As Galvatron himself would say... "BWAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Messing around with Legacy Galvatron in hand. Literally everything about this version is better than the Kingdom one. No battle damage. Tighter joints all the way around. Tighter hip flaps. Both peg holes on the arm that the cannon plugs into are nice and tight. If you can, I HIGHLY recommend replacing your Kingdom Galvatron with this one.
Decided to pick this guy up because he was $35. He is fine. I don’t think he’s worth $50. But I think that’s due to me not liking the alt mode for g1 Galvatron. He is a big heft burly Galvatron. He is definitely the best CHUG Galvatron.
I swore that I wasn't going to pull the trigger... I had already removed the battle damage from the KI Galvatron... and added upgrades. But I had a store credit on Amazon and figured why not. You weren't kidding! The tighter joins make it better. There's evil some subtle differences in the paint, it's only a hair of difference but it's there. This one seems a touch more vibrant. So I added the upgrade spire to his back... and the covers for the arm gaps. I have some new Toyhax labels coming. No one but a hardcore Galvatron fan would notice, but I love this character enough to double dip. He's taken his place with Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps in front of Haslab Unicron. Kingdom Galvatron is now going to permanently live in cannon-mode pointed at SS86 Starscream.
In all honesty I can't remember if I have this or not lol. I do have the comic g1 version and the reformatted galvatron not to mention kingdom. Looking at pics no I don't lol but I have the mold. I love the reformatted version which had the bits for unicron. This looks good. I'm a massive galvatron fan but passed on this clean version.
He’s epic I have Selects, kingdom, and x2 legacy (one for upgrade kit) absolutely no regrets. If Walmart ever puts the 5 on the self on clearance I stock up on spares.
If I had the space I'd do the same. There's something about galvatron that I've always loved. From the tftm through to marvel UK/US the future megatron is one of the franchises great characters. I managed to hunt down a g1 galvatron a few years ago minus his gun. Not sure the mechanics still work in it but it brings back a lot of memories circa 86 in a local toyshop.
I wasn't too sure about picking Galvatron up as I didn't have many G1 characters at the time. However, this guy is just too fun and earned a special place in my collection as an Animated Galvatron traveling across different universes, taking trophies from his victims, hence the Matrix and corrupted Star Saber.
