Okay, I absolutely love the look of this. It reminds me of something like Thrilling 30 Sandstorm where the extensive retooling gives it a whole new identity even though the skeleton of the original bleeds through. If memory serves Doubledealer had very little pagetime in IDW 1.0 so I don't mind a bit of a departure.

Looks nice. Loving the face sculpt. I know it's accurate to the original G1 toy but crotch rocket mode cracks me up.

 

Way back when MMC first showed their Deathsaurus for the first time I debated which to get, theirs or Planet-X. I preferred MMC, but Planet-X won out, by existing for the last several years.

I had zero interest in Doubledealer. Not a fan of the design, but MMC's version looks incredibly cool and it would let me get in on a version of their Deathsaurus at the same time. Its def the bird mode that does it for me.

 

The seat for the little guy would have helped a decent amount for this vehicle mode.

Fyi deco of the actual toy will be radically different to Byrin's old color choices though I did retain some of his old layout for a few spots.

 

Does this mean -less- no orange on the actual release? It's pretty random and not Doubledealer like.

Swore no more expensive 3Ps after D-Zef and the Lightning Eagle rerelease. But this is so cool. And with Calidus I can reenact the Hot Rod spotlight.

It’s gotten rave reviews where I’ve seen it discussed, both the IDW and G1 versions. Hell, I preordered 2 of the G1’s.

It's funny, the wheels in the shoulders and the grills in the chest give an Armada Prime vibe lol.

It looks great and I absolutely want it, BUT, I think it will be a hard sell at the D-Zef pricepoint :S

 

Weirdly, the glyphs and circuitry detailing help sell me more that it's a Cybertronian drone missile tank than when it was in all grey.

Birb looks fantastic, and robot is pretty good as well.
