Rodimus Prime going "Oh NO, not HIM!" at the sight of Wheelie is kinda hilarious. I did play with the idea of a fanfic where Wheelie would be the last Autobot alive (and a Prime to boot!) myself.
Though given the IDW 1.0 continuity where Wheelie was actually pretty badass, not sure why. Didn't Hot Rod have adventures with him and that weird Warhammer 40K Ork guy during Barber's run?
Still makes no sense that they say they have even given up looking for energon. Did they somehow forget Energon can be made from like, literally any energy source, as the cartoons and comics proved? This planet still has a sun, which would be a far better energy source than people. But I guess it would not be dramatic enough, plus "insert environmentalist message here". (Though if anything, the Visitors are really using green, renewable organic energy here! :p )
Hey, Cyberverse Wildwheel is there too! He better get his poncho and hat too in this story, I mean he is the one TF fitting for this environment.

That just means whoever is putting up these Itunes previews is kind of an idiot. Unless that job is already done by an algorithm. In which case that AI is stupid.

How is that nightmare fuel? it just looks like an organic wolf's teeth. Most Beast Wars characters had such teeth. Honestly not seeing how that is scary.
If anything, this is nothing compared to the nightmare fuel faces of some BW characters. I recommend taking a look at Cybershark's original pre-Transmetal robot head...

This cover looks like a kid's drawing. Look at the faces, and how badly drawn the ghosts bodies are.
Been saying it a lot, but when you can find better art on Deviantart than what IDW hires - and they could hire those people, that's how Don Figueroa got his shot at comics - then you know they are just using cheap talent because they are running out of money. And not just here, a lot of their other comics look cheap today.

    Bad Moon Rising. :p

Yeah, the choice of especially Wheelie, who was created as a lost/wild child-like Transformers "kid" for the movie, is definitely deliberate to show lost innocence or somesuch.
It felt indeed annoying how Roche added that Moon-mocking, it also indeed made little sense, considering how fast some beast TFs can be in their alt modes (and rabbits are quite fast, look up cheetahs trying to hunt them).
Yeah, too much time was spent on Shib and the other "humans" (well, aliens really) and they are all really boring and one-note. We all know that the Sari-style Allspark Key thing she carries will be used to give Rodimus superpowers next issue and then he will go Jason Vorhees on the Visitors. It's been telegraphed since issue 1.

makes me wonder if rodimus is gonna have to put them all down or if maybe a few will eventually turn to his side(i know its a long shot). despite the reverence for wheelie, steeljaw is obviously the ring leader as hes done nothing but pontificate like a cult leader. and though the other rogues seem to have adjusted to this new lifestyle, none seem quite as intense or devoted to the idea as steeljaw, which is what makes me think a few might get wise and switch sides.

It really does feel like they're going "LOL WHEELIE SUX AMIRITE GAIS"

I kind of hate it. Not since Lost Light have I told a comic book to "f*ck off" out of annoyance.

I'm also just sick of the "ALL CYBERTRONIANS ARE BAD" thing. I could kind of get it in Optimus Prime, because Earth is stupid, but also because they saved it from Unicron and it was, while bittersweet, an overall happy ending.

This series is just so cynical; it reminds me of "Last Ronin", which I'm also not the biggest fan of.

I… ugh… the Robots in Disguise designs just look wildly out of place compared to the more “classical” robot designs IMO. Steeljaw being the only one with actual eyes as opposed to the more standard flat eye look makes him stand out like a sore thumb.

And to boot I didn’t really care for the RID enemy con designs either. We’ve had beastly robot looks before with the Seacons obviously, but they turned into beasts. The RID cons all turned into normal vehicles despite having animalistic robot looks.

It’s an interesting read though, basically poking at whether evolution/changing is always a good thing or not if it means hosing untold millions of innocents to do so.

    /biofuel is people! It’s peopllllle!!!

Roche is really nailing that creepy, overly-friendly cult recruiter vibe with the way the Visitors talk and how they justify their completely insane practices.

God forbid a cover stylises designs, cause we didn't say this exact asinine shit when Animated was shown off. Also you have no clue what you're talking about at all. "It looks cheap", this is a cover from an Eisner award winning artist.

Yeah, hot rod and wheelie and ork-man thing did have some adventures I guess, but I suppose the important points here is that either a. This isn’t idw1.0 (explicitly) or b. Enough time goes by that you end up not liking the people you used to get along with, or something.
Your point about the sun, etc tho again relies on the assumption that they still have the means to do all the crazy cartoon shit other continuities/stories could do. Which is missing the point and engaging in bad faith, really; it could be that there is energon but not the means to find it reliably. Also could be that they this universes means of producing energon from solar panels or refineries, whether internal or external, is simply, genuinely gone. Kind of a “if we had cheese, we could have ham and cheese sandwiches, if we had ham” logic.

I mean it’s only stupid if it was the only way you read a comic. But then I’d question the validity or need of opinions from someone who tries to have discussions based solely on AI generated previews.

    nah it’s a fine cover

hopefully the three-five page preview next month bears that out, as that’s all some people read, right?

I personally think that Cover B is cool

However what's NOT cool is everyone dunking on it and calling it garbage because god forbid somebody had some artistic freedom and made a stylized cover. Y'all never freak out over other variant covers so why this? Why's this so bad that you must ridicule and dimish the artist and their work?

    Super not cool.

There's better ways to criticize the cover, for sure, but "winning an award" doesn't automatically make anyone who doesn't like it "wrong".

Also, people throw around "stylized" like it's this magic shield that deflects any sort of negative feedback.

The thing is, if the critique came out of nowhere, that'd be one thing. The cover doesn't have to work for you and there is room to be assertive when it comes to making critique. However, at least one critique came solely because someone expressed an appreciation of it, and it wasn't a critique that opened up any avenue for healthy, constructive conversation/debate.

And sure, awards/critical recognition by peers might not be an objective measure of quality, but what I would say is that a statement like "it looks like a child drew it" shows how petty and short-sighted their 'critique' is, and like all their other posts, is entirely useless.

Yeah there's at least one person who got caught not actually reading the comic they claimed they did and the fact they didn't take the opportunity to disappear from IDW discussions over the course of a month was pretty telling.

RiD Steeljaw was an extremely good pick for that kind of character.

So far this series is a bit sad. I like Steeljaw and his sister - but the Decepticons are basically back to their old tricks. I would’ve liked to see those two get to do more - but I don’t see a bright future for them… or anyone, really. That’s a shame, as it would’ve been nice to see IDW go out with a bit more hope… and less murder?

I’m wondering if we’re gonna see a twist though (“To Serve Mankind”) since Roddy seems to be a bit off as well. His poor crew.

Perhaps we’ve yet to see the actual “last Bot” and a few other cameos are waiting in the wings to sort this all out.

    YouTube (Legacy):
Edgelord nonsense as foretold by yester year! Why couldn't these transformers farm cows and turn them into energon rather then sapient beings that dont contain that much energy? Well it's because their would be a plot if edgelord wheelie wasn't an idiot.
