I know some will disagree with altering a bot, but we can agree to disagree. I like the result after removing the metal plate around his head. I even did some slight shaving to his plastic neck for better movement. Yea, I know. I't supposed to hide the head from dino mode, but I am ok with this. And yes I know he has been devalued, but he has been mine for a long time and the dinobots were my favorite growing up so no intention to sell him. I have always been fascinated by dinosaurs since I was a kid so you can imagine how excited I was when Hasbro made these back in the day, Cheers my fellow collectors. Peace out...

Man I love this figure, it's a shame people don't talk about it more. That FT Dinobot journey was a long one if you waited for this guy, but damn worth it.

He doesn’t get talked about often because of the obvious age of the FT Dino’s in general — but believe it or not — many people prefer the original Scoria design (myself included). I was never interested in this reversion.

Doesn’t mean he’s pretty neat in his own right though : )

I like both. Each is unique in their own way.

Hehe to be totally honest, I have the FT Dibots as dinosaurs and have the Studio Series 86 Dinobots as humanoid mode. They pair fantastically together, and a lot cheaper than trying to get two sets of Dibots. Lol

Gawd damn, FT seriously needs to reissue this or scoria. Slag is the only dinobot I'm missing, and my team looks super depressing. It's like I'm experiencing their stunticons all over again!!! I can't escape the pain!!!

I hear you on that one...
    I am at:
4/5 FT Stunticons (missing Dead End)
    4/5 FT Dinos (missing Slag)
    5/6 S1 minibots (missing Cliffjumper)
9/11 S1 carbots (missing TB and Jazz)
20/21 S1 Decepticons (missing MMC ravage)
3/5 Autobot Headmasters (no Brainstorm or Highbrow yet)

I'm very thankful for the collection I have but man, the closer it gets to completing a mini-team, the more annoying it can get.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa... whoa... whoa. FT released a second version of Scoria? How in the name of Satan's festering ball-bag have I not heard about this until now?!

I mean, don't get me wrong, I finally snagged a Scoria in good nick earlier this year to finish off the FT dinobots and despite being a bit rough around the edges, I'm pleased to finally have a full set for bot mode (and GP for dino mode). Is it worth tracking down a cesium, or is it just a fools errand at this point? Doesn't seem like a massive improvement, to be honest.

I believe cesium is a little larger than scoria, so he's less stunted by the other dinobots. His dino mode also is less potatoe-y. I'd take cesium over scoria, but that's my own taste....lol.

Yeah if you've got Scoria and like him, don't chase Caesium. First he'd be really hard to find and you'd pay out the nose for it. As you said, it's not a massive improvement (IMO) over the original. I personally think Scoria fits in better with the other four anyways. Caesium is a little more "Toon" than Scoria but that doesn't fit in with the other four perfectly so it's at best, a sidegrade for people who didn't like the first one.

Yeah, even though I personally prefer Cesium over Scoria, (at least in bot mode, in dino mode Scoria looks better imo) I agree with boomerdave. I wouldn't pay today's prices. Also, the FT Dibots come from a time when MP figures were heavily influenced by the G1 toys and weren't merely toon homages. One day someone will make all toon Dinobots. The FT Dibots will forever have their place though and Scoria, even more so with the second head that came with Grinder, does a fine job next to the other 4.

I was hunting for a (affordable) scoria for some time before i discovered the thriving world of Facebook groups, but I never once stumbled across Cesium. Must be hellishly rare at this point.

Bugger it, Scoria will do just fine.

It's crazy to think this guy was only like 120 bucks or something ridiculous when it came out.

Yeah I remember reading he was supposed to correct some minor issues that came to light with Scoria on account of being their first dinobot. But I never did find out exactly why he was so much cheaper than Scoria. He's heavy, chromed all over, full of ratchets, etc. Cesium's probably hell to track down now though with only the single production run out there.

For me, the neck gap of scoria in Dino mode bothered me enough that i switched to caesium. Of course, he was only 120 on release. If he was current price i probably would have stuck with scoria

What was the price difference between the 2? I started back collecting like right as grimlock and snarl were drying up. Never was able to track down a reasonable priced copy, like a poor fool.
