If you were to pick only one from MS Ironhide and MS Ratchet, which one would you choose and why?

Gotta have them both. They’re both central characters.

Ironhide because he is overall higher and more important in the Autobot chain of command.

But Ratchet isn't far behind him on the list

More or less, Iron Hide has some pretty memorable scenes and Ratchet was the team medic and co mad scientist with wheeljack.

I agree and I'd buy both, but I have to maintain my budget, this is why I asked the question.

Buy the one you like the most first save up for the next one and buy it in a month or two.

I completely understand. Don't forget that newage has a 2.0 release coming. So instead of double dipping, you could get one from MS and one from NA. NA is usually smaller and Less "bulky" than MS. So I would reccomend Ironhide MS and NA Ratchet. Since in my mind Ironhide is the "rougher" of the two.

This is the direction I took, with the exception that I have the NA Ratchet 1.0.

Depends, do you have dinotbots that would go with ratchet? Iron hide is a decent figure, but he doesn't have the same cohesion to others in my opinion

20220715_150912.jpg 20220715_150826.jpg Finally managed to pick this guy up from the Post office today and wow... so glad I decided to go for him and Ratchet and sold my NA van bros.

A world apart from those versions and looks nice and bulky like Ironhide should to me.

Also MS have killed it with the accessories for him... more hands than I know what to with!!

Can't wait for Ratchet to arrive now.:)

Edited just to add... did anyone else spend an age trying to get the front panel underneath the windscreen part, just to realise it didn't need too..??  :lol :lol

It's really up to which character you like the most. For me it would be Ratchet. I'm a comic book guy, Ratchet was pivotal is several continuities.

I'd choose Ratchet, more iconic imo. But I'm getting both soon.

For me it was easy: Ironhide. Red is my favorite color.

Seriously: the hands rule. I'd LOVE to see this become standard as accessories going forwards. The ONE gripe I have with MS Jazz (apart from the iffy paint apps) is that the only set of additional hands it comes with are...gun-holding fist-blocks. Which are pointless because the half-open hands he comes with stock can already hold the gun, and look better doing it.

Totally agree with this mate. Jazz would defo benefit from more hands.

Same. I barely remember Ironhide being in the comic but Ratchet was huge. He was the pivotal character for a couple issues in the early part of the run and then he was super important near the end as well. He also had some damn good character development after Optimus died. And when Ratchet died late in the series, it very nearly broke Optimus to the point he just about turned his back on everything.

I’d pick Ironhide all day long…but I have an addiction…haha. I occasionally pick up the Ratchet versions of the van bro molds, but diminishing display space usually keeps Ratchet out of my collection.

Also, my Ironhide showed up today and he is great. No issues. The articulation is seriously impressive. The super tiny nature of these things always concerns me, though. Some of the load-bearing components are absolutely miniscule. That doesn’t surprise me…but I feel like I need to put the kid gloves on for this one. This is also my first Magic Square figure, so I’m not quite sure what to expect. Stay tuned for pics with his brothers, lol…

Expect a great tolerance to stress. The material it's made of, nylon plastic, is really flexible and durable. You can literally throw Ironhide against a wall and it won't sweat. Really, it is the big pro in MS' materials. They are made to last.

Except Ironhide's rubber tires, maybe :-/

That’s good to know! He does feel a bit flexy…but flexy beats shattery any day of the week…haha…

Edit: I just TF’d him during lunch, and holy panel flipping shitballs! I can’t believe how crazy he is. I didn’t use the instructions, so, I missed a couple tiny panels on the rear quarters…took me a minute to figure out why there were a couple holes in the alt mode…haha. Super tiny…Jesus…. And their tolerances are fantastic.

I had this same dilemma, they both look great but I really only have the budget for one right now. Ultimately I went with Ironhide, as a warrior he is a bit more suited to the action poses these figures can pull off. Also I don't have a decent G1-ish Ironhide in my collection, CW doesn't really cut it. I do have Siege Ratchet, but now I'm considering flipping him to get MS Ratchet. I have Prime 2.0 and I think they'd look great side by side.

Yeah, I'm not really digging this new direction that MS is taking with the rubber tires for exactly that reason. Also, chunky rubber tires just hit different on an MP or chug figure but on a legends size it just feels like they're going to fly off like a rubber band.
