Pretty good choice. Summanus is a damned good looking fig, despite its flaws.

There's a tooth that pushes against a ratchet. Instead of using paper to push it and make it tighter, try rubber band instead. I did that more than a year ago and no issues still.

That's what I'd recommend too. That would work way better than the paper that I used.

    Here's a quick guide, @Red Ramen @Paladin @stormflash .

In the pic you can see the folded piece of paper under the ratchet part, so just picture that as a part of a rubber band.

It's a really easy mod to do. I hope that helps!

I'm sorry too, but same thing happened to mine: on one side his tail was somewhat tight, and at some point it fell apart by itself (I was extremely careful with the guy and had him in robo mode almost always). Are there any sellers who can hook up with a replacement, because Planet X CS is ignoring me hard. I'm completely fine with paying for replacement, because toy is well worth it.

Yeah, I reached out to Planet X as well, they said they didn't have any more and had no plans to re-run it. That was last summer, and I don't think things have changed. I was keeping my eyes open and happened to see someone selling some a pic of "stuff" they had from when they sold Planet X stuff and they had an extra tail that they gave me. Best of luck finding one. Keep an eye out for any junkers being sold with a different problem but an intact tail? That's probably the best case you can hope for at this point.

Finally got this guy, and I really like him. I am scared to death of the plastic on the tail, but so far so good. I need to tighten up the balljoints on his feet, they're pretty floppy.
I do really like his transformation, I only have one other of these, Vulcun, and I still prefer him to Summanus, but Summanus is fun. I really like the legs on the dinosaur mode,
that's something that drew me to the Planet X guys in the first place. I plan on picking up Slag next.

Don't just be scared about tail. Lube it. Promise me that you are gonna apply bit of lube to it right now, like some silicone stuff, so you don't repeat my mistake. I thought that it's nothing major myself, but at some point it just exploded. Also PX Slag is awesome.
Eventually I'll find time and will solder a wire into Summanus' tail piece to keep it stable, and it will be all good.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted by the teal one.

Just curious is the tail less frangle on the rereleases/reissues of the normal figure? Or is it just the same as the first release?
I'd be tempted to get the regular/metallic version if the tail isn't as fragile. But IDK if it would look that great next to my non-metallic Grimlock.

Never thought Id see someone do both G2 colors. Not sure how i feel about the black dino heads. I know it's suposed to mimic the clear head of the original but i think i would have preferred gold.

Also just noticed the plates/spikes are clear on the red one. I hope they change them to gold. I also think the reds should be 2 toned as on the original the chest was a bright red and everything else was darker.
