Just my luck. Seems like this screw is stripped and it was over tightened not letting it slide out enough to have that piece turn. Any tips?

Not sure if you’re having same issue I did, but I’ve had issues where it didn’t seem like it was fully extended and I didn’t have the clearance to rotate the faux chest over the truck windows.

My issue wasn’t the screw though, it was that the mushroom peg in the chest wasn’t fully pushed back deep enough to give the clearance. Might be worth checking out if it’s a clearance issue. If it’s budged solid so you can’t turn it at all, apologies.

Are the thread stripped or the head of the screw?

Success after all. It was indeed the screw being too tight, and it was actually mushrooming the plastic tube it goes inside so it wouldn’t let the metal grill piece slide out enough past the tabs to turn at all. I had to pull much more than I was comfortable doing and then once I got some movement I turned it around a few times so the plastic would grind down on itself and let it turn more easily. Thanks to those who tried to help. The top of the screw is still stripped, but there doesn’t seem to be a need to remove it now. This is my first experience with any of newage’s prime molds. Despite being a Newage fanboy I gotta give this one to magic square. While the chest and diaper size issues actually don’t bother me in person at all, the figure feels way less solid to me in robot mode than magic squares. I love the paint though, but you forget that light of justice even transforms with how much of an action figure he feels like in robot mode. Even so, I think I’ll invest in a newage famine because I really liked this guy’s truck mode and how well it was painted. Also looking forward to depthcharge which will hopefully ship soon

Got the youth/year of the tiger version. Great little toy, love it! Might eventually get the regular release and display it in alt mode

The youth version really looks good. I think it's the only version you can compare with MS as it's not painted.

True. MS looks good, but the nylon plastic they use doesn't feel good to me, there's a lot of extra plastic on MS figures as well, and I do like the clear windows on the NA one better as well. They're both good, but I feel that NA products are built better.

Well I love both but I have a preference for MS actually. The nylon they used is great because it gives a toony feel and it's indestructible. I do agree clear windows would make it tons better and maybe we'll get it one day. I don't think it's that NA's is built better but just it feels more premium and that it's aimed to people who enjoyed the shiny and quality look of MP-44. MS on the other hand is more aimed at people who like the toon accuracy and the articulation of MP-44. I think a painted and clear window version of MS would be the best of both worlds...

Can anyone help me with a question about the various versions of this guy on the market?:

I’ve seen cheaper listings that appear to be selling just the bot without the trailer. (E.g. on aliexpress & eBay for $50-60). Is that exactly the same bot as the version that comes with the trailer? Or am I misunderstanding what I’m looking at?

I want to get this guy; I want the original fully painted “toon” version, but I don’t much care about getting the trailer. Do I need to buy the $120 version with the trailer, or is there a cheaper option?

Newage has released two versions of the traditional G1 toon deco. H27 is the more expensive, fully painted version that comes with diecast parts and the trailer. They also released H27F which is cheaper but comes with only certain details painted (chest stripe, eyes, lights, etc) without any diecast or the trailer.

So far there has not been a trailerless release of the fully painted version.

H27F on the left, H27 on the right.

Well there are a few versions out now, transparent, unpainted, toy deco, gold,... Most of them are sold without the trailer. There used to be a cheap version of him, the youth version, with G1 deco, few accessories and without the trailer. This would have been your best bet. It's sold out at ShowZ but here is a link for reference: Newage H27F David Optimus Prime Youth Version

As stated previously, H27F and the H27 regular version are both G1 toon decos, the F version does not come with the trailer, but it does have the blaster, axe, and interchangeable hands. Paint-wise, H27 contains little to no bare plastic, the white on the legs and crotch piece is bare plastic, same goes for some swiveling parts on the top of the torso. The reds on H27 is kind of a piano finish, and the blues have somewhat of a metallic speck to it, on H27F, the red parts and the blue parts are just bare plastic, the red bare plastic is a tad more vibrant on this version, it's abs plastic so it's not gummy or, prone to have mold flash like magic square's. F version also replaces the diecast ab joint with a nylon piece, it's just as sturdy, but less flashy. I would say that H27 has a more premium finish to it, while H27F lacks the piano, and metallic speck finishes, all of Prime's detailing are fully painted.

Marvel Prime came in today. Another unique addition to my prime plethora. Megatron is definitely the stunner for the comic repaints so far, but this Prime can hold his own.

The red isn’t drastically different, but noticeable. Both hues of metallic blue are lovey. The opaque chest windows are another ‘small but significant’ adjustment. The backwards butterfly and double elbow joints are welcomed additions. The lack of a chest stripe is a nice change of pace for the overall bot presence.

Speaking of chest stripes: I just noticed that my toon deco has a new chip in the grey:cry  79EF3428-3D89-40D5-AEC3-4A9CA6941B2D.jpeg 578182CA-7F08-4D77-94A1-0400BDB42CF3.jpeg C987885D-87C3-45C5-8889-CE876C877C9E.jpeg E11134E7-37BE-4B32-905A-C2DEC2ADEDF6.jpeg

The red they used for the Marcel version would have been perfect on the original version.

Nice surprise when I got back from work today...

So glad I bit the bullet on this guy. Love the colours and the finish on him. Pity the posing hands aren't the same blue... they don't have the shine to them unfortunately.

Really like the way he looks with the comic version of Megs too.
