Honestly my only complaint on Cosmos is that gigantic top hat look he’s sporting. That was certainly a… decision. He’ll be in bot mode most of the time anyway, so not a huge deal. Seeing him next to Huffer helps. Then my CW Scrounge will be a different mold than Cosmos on my little “Meanwhile, back on Cybertron” display..

    I had the same thought.
I don't actually have a Scrounge so I'd more likely have to make a custom tho.

Sure, the original is as goofy as the old UFO sketches. But the cylindrical top on this one is just too tall.

Yeah, I can see that. The top part does feel a little too tall for the ship mode. That's my primary reservation, too. But I don't have another Cosmos, and he helps fill out my Cracked.com article about stupid Transformers characters. Already got Omega Supreme and Skylynx...

I don’t have another Cosmos besides my G1 toy, but I do have XTB Barada (blue Cosmos/Pathfinder) and that figure sets such a high bar that I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with a CHUG Cosmos. This one does look really good in robot mode, though.

So glad he didn't end up as a Bumblebee retool, the saucer mode would've looked alright but the robot mode wouldn't have been nearly as good. I'll have to try and find a paler yellow paint for his arms to match the nylon plastic but otherwise he looks basically perfect.

Yeah that mismatched paint bugs me, too, and I don’t really understand how it keeps happening. I can see that choice as being a reasonable first guess, but there should have been plenty of opportunities to dial it in before production.

I think the bot mode on this guy is fine…that saucer mode is kinda ridiculous, though. I’m probably just going to stick with my TR.

Once I get mine I'll pose him with my Ultimetal Prime as his top hat. If only Prime had a voice clip saying "top of the morning to you"

Mark said with ER Sunstreaker it was due to issues from that-which-must-not-be-mentioned, because he only got to see it in photos (presumably lit/edited to make the colors look as good as possible) before he had to approve it. He was shocked once he saw a copy in person and said he would never have approved that. With Cosmos I suspect it's more to do with the mold/plastic constraints requiring that all the yellow parts be nylon, although I don't get why they couldn't have just used a lighter shade of yellow paint to match? The yellow paint for SS86 Hot Rod's flames is much closer to the yellow nylon than what they used on Cosmos or Sunstreaker, so it must be possible to at least come closer to matching it than they did.

What's really frustrating though is that figures like Dragstrip and all the yellow Cliffjumper redecos prove that it is possible to match yellow paint and plastic very well (for the Cliffjumper redecos) and to match yellow nylon and other types of plastic to the point where they're almost indistinguishable in most light (for Dragstrip). Cosmos is a minor enough character I doubt we'll ever get a 'fixed' release but I really wish they'd give us a properly colored Sunstreaker at least.

In some ways, I might have preferred the Bumblebee retool more. As much as I love the character himself, I have no particular attachment to his original toy and animation model.

I much prefer the most recent Legends scale figure of him as far as alt modes go. I just prefer flatter flying saucers.

I am still going to make an effort to get this toy, but I won't be heartbroken if someone more into G1 accuracy snaps him up before I do.

Love the robot mode but not a fan of the alt mode.

Count me in with the many who think he looks decent enough in bot mode but his saucer looks like it’s been stretched in the wash. It’s a shame as he would be fine with a shorter torso, but it almost looks too elongated and the proportions in vehicle mode are thrown off as a result.

I’m torn in that I think he has a great robot mode and the UFO doesn’t look ‘bad’, it just doesn’t look particularly like Cosmos’ saucer.

Then there’s the Prime Wars Cosmos which is pretty decent but smaller, and not 100% accurate either (though I do prefer his UFO mode much more than the Velocitron version)

I just received a pair of these little guys and I love em! Then I found an upgrade kit that improves Cosmos by a lot! Color matching is really close! Highly recommend you pick up this kit.

Also, the kit has little tiny magnets that cling to the metal pegs to hold the flaps in place while in UFO mode.

I picked up the kit here:

I got that kit, too. Really fixes the gaping holes in the arms.
