The original G1 Throttlebots have identical transformations. The biggest drawback of them as a team to me is the lack of variety, so a change to a couple of different molds might be okay.

I think the likes of SS ‘86 Dinobots and Kingdom Terrorsaur show that keeping the transformation the same as the original figures is not a concern for Hasbro.

Additionally, the Cliffjumper mold is one of the most overused at this point.

I'm really glad HasTak didn't do the stupid 2 wheels per feet design for Goldbug and hope they don't even consider it for the rest of the team. IMO, it was terribly executed with the Runabros, and that extra plastic would have been better used as a gun.

Kind of sad they didn't. I thought it was a nice touch when they did it for Runabout and Runamuck.

It really wasn't a nice touch, it was about the dumbest way they could do it

    Gonna hafta agree.

I understand WHY they did it, but they really shouldn't have.

In their case they did get decent guns to go with them. I wasn't expecting old Diaclone G1 Carbot level accessories.

However, I cannot say much as to how they work on the figures since mine are still in package. Hasbro has at best done simple elegance for mechanics, but I can see them being a bit crude working in a feature on a a mold when they plan on re-using the mold for other characters.

ER Runamuck is a.. strange figure. I'm starting to see why he's so cheap compared to the other stuff from that line.

But surely you understand that while they might transform a little differently they still look like themselves in both modes, right?

Wideload has a dump truck bumper for his feet and a covered dump truck bed for his chest, with the rear end of the bed holding back over his head. On Huffer we would be retooling the back of his legs to look like the back of a dump truck bed, the front of his legs to look like the front of a dump truck, the front of his chest to look like the top of a covered dump truck bed, and his hood would be retooled to look like the front of a dump truck. Maybe we can even give him some fake wheels to put on the sides of his feet. I don't know where his arms would go, since wideload's dump truck doesn't have giant smoke stacks.

It just seems like an awful lot of work to attain only mediocre results.

I wish we had a Deluxe Gears. Then we could get an e-Hobby Small Foot redeco as well. (I’m still waiting for a Treds redeco from Warpath, so it’ll probably be a while.)

Agreed. Gears and Swerve are two of my favorites, and I've gotten on a GoBot kick recently. I've got a spare Warpath that I'm going to fix up as a MOBAT version of Treds, but I'd much rather buy two Treds and apply GI JOE stickers!

I really want to see the rest of the Throttlebots, but they are characters who made a fairly brief cameo in one episode. They’re not going to get their own molds.

Wideload is a character that as far as I’m aware, no one cares about. Give me an orange generic looking transformer with a blue chest and a decent headsculpt and I’ll be happy.

Of all the deluxe figures around at the moment I think Huffer is the one who would take the least work to get something close.

Spinister got his own mold. Flywheels got his own mold. Doubledealer got his own mold. Iguanus got his own mold. Wideload is far from the most obscure character to get their own mold.

I wouldn't write off the Throttlebots so easily. Some of the toys in the WFC trilogy who got their own dedicated molds didn't have super prominent roles. Runabout and Runamuck only appeared in 2 episodes in the original cartoon, and Flywheels never actually appeared in the American cartoon, only the Japanese one. Spinister was a comic exclusive character, and Doubledealer has 3 entire comics to his name in G1, one black and white UK comic and a couple appearences in a Germany-exclusive comic.

If they were convinced they could get multiple toys out of a single mold, I could see them getting some dedicated molds, or at least heavy retools. Like a shared mold for Chase and Freeway that gets mildly retooled for Searchlight and significantly retooled for Rollbar, and a dedicated mold for Wideload.

And, once again, the Marvel Comics, in which they had a significant arc, are completely dismissed/ignored.... :(

I really think popping this set out, whilst Blaster is on shelves, may actually be another of Mark's mini-collections, homaging the Goldbug & him renegades on a road trip arc from them.

Doubledealer at least got highlighted as Clouder in Masterforce, though, so there's obvious sales on the other side of the pond - even if his colors were ever so slightly different (mostly grey was changed to white).

I'm still waiting for Omnibots. If the Powerdashers can get nods, so can they.
