This is going to sound insanely harsh (and no doubt have people mad at me), but this version legit looks like compared to the other version. It looks like a prototype with almost not a lick of color blocking….

 

It is,they've said that this version was for those who want to paint by themselves.

 

Ah well that would certainly explain why it looks like little effort was out into this ones paint job, because the ones buying it would take care of that.

Hope the weathered one isn’t significantly more expensive just because they know a lot of people don’t want to paint it themselves.

 

I like the current color tone, so I will get two, as per usual, I am not too sure about getting the tan version.

 

I would actually like this version for myself. I do not want the partial "original" version. It will be curious waiting until it drops I guess.

This is the paint scheme yes. Also There is no non-damaged head. This is Dotm Megatron. That’s movie 1 and rotf Megatron.

 

I hereby nomimate to call the non-damaged version the "dessert" version (due to it having the same color as pistachio ice cream) and the later tan version as the "desert" version lol.

 

He looks like peppered mashed avocado. NewAge must be laughing all the way to the bank!

 

Looking at this better quality image that the friend posted, I see that the more yellowish tone is due to the late afternoon sun reflecting on it in the desert. That's why I thought it was yellowish, but in fact it is rusty greenish.

 

I don’t care if the original color of the truck is gray or green. I still agree with myself   (whatever that means) that the final version should be MORE GRAY-ISH (gray-ish green?) compare to the sample version seen earlier.

Honestly, that mint green color that UT decided to use in the sample version is ridiculous. As if some cartoon character had puked on the truck. Come on, i’m sure UT can do better than that.

Edit. And i think, if UT decided to make the desert color version (yellow-ish), i mean really yellow-ish, it will be even more off than what it should be.

 

He is supposed to be Olive Drab, which is a very common us military paint as I believe his truck was supposed to be a military oil transport in the middle east as he is in africa and is a Mack truck. And to make olive drab by scratch you mix green and yellow together, thus you are right. And with his fading from the weathering he appears more yellow, but thats the problem with weathering, you have to start with the proper color then add layers ontop. I have messed up models learning this as if you start with a color that is already faded, after the washes, drybrushing, and rust effect its comes out even further than you originally wanted. The green they used does look too Green/minty, but until I see the figure in my hands I'm not going to complain too much as in mangmotions video the color grading and lights alter the hue of the green alot.

Yes, UT botched the color, but I dont think as much as many people believe, but everyone sees color differently.

 

The truck is Greyish green, with some tan highlights.

 

Yes it is, grey-ish green exactly. A typical color for military vehicles.

 

It's funny how they could have better results if they TRIED to replicate the original voyager colour scheme.

 

Not to mention it being colour graded to within an inch of its life.

I just noticed something. The truck inside the red rectangle is different than the one on the left. Apparently they had at least two trucks that looked almost alike.
