Yes well said @axisvega ...... Nemesis Aslan, indeed......! In fact Aslan was the first thing that came to mind the first time I saw King Lion in full colour. Only this lion is like a post-Stone Table Aslan - aggressively asserting himself as he prepares to take down the White Witch.

It can happen. As I said, I had this case once. Final Price was there, but still could not pay in Full > In this Case it is Bugged
and you have to contact ShowZ.

 

Great photos @mantisfists , if you have Firmament, could you do a couple of photos of his box beside King Lion's please? Curious to see the difference in length x width x height s'all. Congrats on getting him safely from ShowZ too BTW. Frank emailed me a little while ago to say next drop of the Lion will be "early July". Somehow I think that will be next week at the earliest.

I'm standing by my prediction though, I think once the Lion is distributed and visible everywhere in the 3P community, a lot of people will jump onboard and snap up the first 3. Just my opinion though.

You may be right, but some aren’t so enamored with Kinglion’s design. I do think we’ve seen enough of the combined form to sell some collectors on the set, but for someone who collects based on individual figures like me, the lion isn’t an automatic purchase.

To my eye, Landbull and Kinglion are so aesthetically contrasting that they don't appear to be from the same set, and my interest in them couldn’t be more different. The bull was a must-have for me, but the lion is an easy pass. I realize a lot of people like the spiky Zoids design style, but I find it very polarizing. It’s too much for me to even consider completing the combiner.

 

It's definitely a subjective issue, which can only be a good thing.

The lion does nothing for me in beast or robot mode but as a spiky chest, it looks amazing, so it will be a pragmatic purchase.

When it's combined with the stocky bots as legs, thicc monkey pants and the long and slightly thinner arms, I've got a good feeling about the combined mode (still wish the feet were giant cannons, but we can't have everything)

 

I like them all, but Tantrum is easily the best 3p stylized transformer that exists to date.

 

I do think a lot of people buy combiner sets specifically to build the combiner and display it that way, and Kinglion was wisely designed with careful consideration of the torso mode. I think the lion got second priority, and the robot was last— it’s just a standing lion with a lowered head. Honestly in all modes the toy reminds me of a messy Chihuly sculpture, but to each their own.

It’s certainly my favorite Transformer toy with a beast alt mode. My fingers are crossed hoping Not-Headstrong turns out just as good.

I love my DiveBomb, but I would have been so much more into him if the feet somehow transformed. Not a fan of beast feet showing up in bot mode. Same for Kinglion. It would have been so easy to rework the heel we have now and turn the feet around. Feet are not needed for any transformation purposes, so I don't get why they went that way.

 

That's a big design sticking-point for me, too. Distinct robot feet wouldn't be that difficult to engineer, but it makes a big difference to help distinguish one mode from the other. Perhaps Firm didn't have as much mass with which to work from, but there's little excuse for Kinglion not having them.

 

But the clawed feet are still robot feet! Maybe you are a fan of the one toe / boot looking robot feet.

Still taking some pics but as far as the beast mode feet go in bot mode, I’m usually in agreement for disliking them, but for Kinglion in particular, the large feet really help with stability. There are lots of opportunities through posing, both from the front and the back, of being off balance because of everything hanging off of him. Those big claws really do a great job of keeping him planted.

 

Yeah, I think that is what they are getting at. Some differentiation between the beast feet and the robot mode feet. I agree with other folks that even some small transformation of the feet just to make them slightly different would have been preferable, but it's not a deal breaker for me. It's not as bad as the render for the cang toys dinobot that has the same feet and legs in both beast and robot mode. hope they change that one up a bit whenever they actually show 3d renders, or gray prototypes.

 

I meant distinct robot feet. As in, recognizably different from the beast feet.

 

So, I see several here have been getting their Sovereign Kittys in the mail or shipped out, but I've had mine on PO for a while now at ShowZ and haven't got any notice for payment or nada. Anyone else experience this?
