True. All or nothing!!! Just kidding. Also I know that Lego would never do that given how much money they probably make on these.
If you read the article, you'd know it doesn't take affect until Sept. 2023 Anyway, yeah. Consider me bummed. I'm confident in saying I have 100% success rate when it comes to feeling the bags. With that ability taken away, I doubt I'll be buying any CMFs after the switch. I like to get the figures I want. I'm not in it for the thrill of the mystery. I can only hope they end up putting some sort of secret code on the box to identify which figure is inside. The very first series of CMFs had unique barcodes that revealed which was which.
I absolutely love that line. I've picked up both of the mech + vehicle packs, the two with weapons cases, the newer four, and the two v2 red & blue anime - style ones.
Yeah, I have a 100% rate after I started feeling them up around the first Disney wave. This is gonna suck and maybe mean just buying opened sets. Or quitting, which makes more sense for me. I never seen the Muppets wave other than the one time I got a few. Would like to complete that set at least.
I think this is the best option. Even if they are exclusive to shop at home. I think the only other solution is putting codes on the packages to decipher what they are for people who really NEED to know.
Yeah, saw some people suggested to Lego to put the semi ambiguous codes on the boxes, or QR codes telling what is inside. Think both ideas were declined.
Although I loath all the plastic bags involved with Lego and have been wanting them to step away from that, not happy with the new packaging for the CMF. I, too, have spent quite a bit of time feeling the bags and identifying figures. Not with the (close to) perfect scores others mention, but still pretty good. I've always succeeded in getting the figures I wanted with only a few I didn't. If it's not possible to "know" which CMF I'm buying, I don't think I'll be buying anymore. Hated this with the Band sets and ended up with a figure I absolutely didn't want (found a fresh box at a store, but they had apparently changed the order when pricing them). Hope Lego puts some code on it for the collectors.
I always hated feeling the bags. Somewhere around like Series 10, I took to just grabbing the singles I want, or the whole series in a lot, off Ebay or Bricklink. It averages out to maybe $1 more per minifig at worst, which is more than worth the time and aggravation of feeling up the bags. I'd welcome the ability to discern what's in the package so maybe I'd go back to picking up singles in person. For ones where I want the whole series, I'd probably still stick to getting them online either way.
I'm really wanting to see this LEGO Idea come to life if only to see if LEGO would move forward with a Middle Earth Architecture line. LEGO IDEAS - Rivendell - 20th Film Anniversary
Not sure if this has been posted yet -- casual interview with the designers of the new 90th anniversary Castle and Galaxy Explorer, showing off the sets: That castle is my dream set. Not sure I can justify the price, but will instantly get it if it's ever on sale. The Explorer also looks like one of the most polished spaceships Lego has ever done at that scale. Would probably pick up that one at a discount too, especially since I already have Benny's Space Squad and could populate it with a whole rainbow of classic spacemen. I've always wanted Minas Tirith and Barad Dur in Lego, and Architecture / micro scale would probably be the way to go, haha.
Space is rapidly becoming an issue when it comes to Lego sets/builds. I've got the Batmobile, UCS A-Wing, Falcon (og), and Star Destroyer(og), as well as a grip of smaller sets still in boxes. But they have so many good sets out right now, I can't pass up. I'm going to have to dedicate a whole room to just Lego.
I feel this so much right now. Have all my action figures plus all the modulars, all the fairground sets, shuttle, Apocolypseburg, batmobile (89), UCS star destroyer, UCS Falcon, UCS AT-AT, GB firehouse, windmill, daily bugle, barracuda bay, all the Ninjago city sets, fishing store, etc. it is too much. I think I’m going to dump the fairground sets, some of the non-modular buildings, and disassemble store others. It is way too crowded currently
I'm nearing the point where I probably need a whole house soon. We decided last year to decorate the house with Lego sets here and there. Took down all of our Blurays and DVDs from their wall shelves and put up all the Star Wars Microfighters in there and the Tantive IV above them. Two Falcon sets and the UCS one are on shelves in. The bedroom. Then the "videogame room" became the Lego Room where half of it is Lego sets on shelving with a huge table in the middle where we have storage for loose pieces in bins and now the table is a display area instead of a building area.
My wife told me long ago that Transformers, Lego, etc. are simply now allowed in the bedroom. But earlier this year I snuck in the Valentine's Lovebirds set and she hasn't said anything (or she was just too busy to notice). In our home office, where I have my one and only toy display case, I actually only have Poe's X-Wing, Emmet's Double-decker couch, and a handful of minifigs on display. Oh and Lightyear's Viper is out on a "non-permanent" spot. In our main room, we have a bookshelf with a few little sets - the Year of the [Fill in the blank] has a dedicated spot. On the top are Hedwig and Fawkes. The Discovery shuttle sits on top of the piano. A console by the dining table acts as a "featured" spot where I try to rotate one big set. And then my daughter's Friends/whatever-is-hot-right-now sets take up the media console under the TV in the other common room. That room also has a jar with the Lego flowers on permanent display, along with our Everyone is Awesome set. Lots of the big sets remain unbuilt, or we built and then I strategically disassembled and packed them away to make room for something new. My wife doesn't like our house to look "cluttered" (and I tend to agree but she's a bit more strict than I) so it's really about rotating and featuring, rather than build and display everything. And I really hate having to dust Lego so I'm highly motived to keep things minimal. When I see people post pics of everything out on open shelving (Lego, TF, anything) I feel anxious about how much cleaning that must entail.
Oh I forgot the flowers in a vase, bonsai tree, and bird of paradise. Those are all out on display in the kitchen. Also forgot that we have the Batwing and old school truck on the table in the front room since we ran out of time to wall mount the Batwing and find an appropriate spot for the truck since it is going to be a seasonal display. My wife is the same about clutter, and I'm a hoarder, so we compromise and we do a massive cleaning/organizing a few times a year. That means that things get put away, sold, or donated that we no longer want to have out on display. All of that has been put on hold while we raise our new puppy and things are beginning to pile up and driving us both insane. For example the UCS AT-AT I was hoping to build before we got her is now sitting in the front room under some jackets.
My R-Type MOC and the Porsche 911 are occupying my coffee table because of space problems lol. And I had forgotten about all my Winter Village sets which come out on rotation.
