Guys! When you receive your copy of D-Zef, be extra careful when handling the transformation of kaiju neck. It’s attached to the body by 2 tiny rivets. Can be easily to be popped out of the body with the rivets while sliding the neck panel, but extremely hard to install it back in! I tried but failed and had taken my D-Zef to my local toy doctor trying to reinstall the kaiju neck. #FingerCrossed

Wish more 3p companies use the Reformatted scale scale.

 

I know you're joking, but at the same time, I do wish more 3P companies would commit to Reformatted/Generations/CHUG scale figures. I've always thought that MMC carved out their own niche by being one of the last 3P companies to continue producing high quality figures in a scale that matches (or at least, is close to) mainline releases. All the other notable companies seem to have turned exclusively to MP or Legends scale, and while I do collect MP, I haven't been able to bring myself to go down the Legends rabbit hole... yet.

 

At long last mine is in country, hopefully that means I'll have him tomorrow.

1. The figure is around 25-26cm tall, and 40cm wide. It's very impressive looking.
2. He shows off the 2 different head sculpts. It's nicely painted and the backpack is pretty small.
3. The articulation is pretty self-explanatory, but there are some interesting bits. Like you can un-tab the chest to get a greater head down. The un-tabbed chest is not noticeable from some angles. The ab crunch is a little tight, and the range is a bit limited since it has to hide parts inside. The wings come disassembled, so you'll have to install them yourself.
4. He comes with a sword. However, he was unable to tab the sword into the slot in his hand. The tab might be a bit too wide on his copy. The gun fits just fine. The thing that allows the sword to peg into the side of his arm is also too tight. The one for the back is smoother and he uses that instead. The mace can be attached to his gun. The gun and mace can also be stored on the figure.
5. The transformation is also self-explanatory, but there is one thing to remember is don't pull the chest piece out straight. You need to hinge it out at an angle first. At least I think that's what he's saying. I'm not 100% sure.
6. Alt-mode articulation is shown after the transformation.
7. Not weapon storage in alt-mode.
8. It can stand pretty steady in alt-mode since you can spread out the toes and the ratchets are tight.

 

Yikes. Hope you were able to fix it.

Question, did that happen because were you were doing something wrong, or did that come apart from just transforming it correctly/normally as intended?

Does anyone else that have the figure think this will be an issue?

That’s a bummer. Wonder how universal those issues are and how easy they may be to fix with a dremel or something.

Got a little stuck in sliding the kaiju neck to the front. With a little excess force the kaiju neck popped out with rivets attached.
Then I removed the rivets. Once they’re removed they couldn’t be reinstalled.
My local toy doctor checked and suggested that bigger sized rivets or screws, with washers, should be installed to prevent the neck popping off easily, especially when the neck is held when transforming.

He has arrived, I had to go collect him from my local corner shop as ups decided to leave him there instead of my flat.

Out of the box the main figure and his accessories look great, not attached the wings as I need to put him back in the box for now. The blue lion is clear plastic and a disappointment (back legs fell straight off with the pin used to hold them on) of an extra when we could of just had an IDW eagle instead.

D-Zef is a beautiful figure and nicely posable in bot mode, disappointed that a few of the joints are friction instead of ratchet but out of the box everything is tight and holds nicely. Lack of wrist bend and ab crunch not a total loss but would've been more inkeeping with the more recent reformatted releases.

Saw that some people were having a problem tabbing in the weapons, only checked the sword so far but fits fine. The lions tab on to chest okay, again not a fan of the clear plastic.

The face sculpt is lovely but the instructions didn't say how to change the face but I'm assuming it's just unscrew the head and away you go.

 

So I got my copy today and heard some parts loose in the box. When I opened it, one of the talons was snapped off before I even opened the box. Additionally, the part that supports the arm was COMPLETELY disassembled! There was a loose piece (pictured), and a loose spring and screw as well. I had to figure out how to put it all back together just so he could keep his arm up. Also, the slot for the sword in his hand is too small, so it does not tab in well. Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed as I have waited YEARS for this release. I contacted Planet Steel Express already, does anyone know if they do replacement parts/figures??
