Is the G2 ThunderClash figure the only one in circulation?

If Hasbro ever does a new Armada Optimus Prime with Trailer, I would imagine they would try to milk a proper Thunderclash out of it, or vice versa.

Currently, there’s the original G1 toy and a botcon exclusive repaint of Energon Rodimus Prime.

There’s rumors that Legacy Motormaster will be remolded/repainted next year.

That would be a big stretch. Not many legitimate similarities

As well as the G1 Euro release (released in Machine Wars as Optimus Prime), we have the Botcon 2009 release and that's it for official.

3rd Party wise, we have an IDW style Thunderclash released by MMC and a very, very awesome Fans Hobby release which takes the Thunderclash colours and concept and merges it with a Powermaster Prime style Masterpiece level toy with excellent results, which ends up almost with a Hyperdrive style end result.

All four toys are exceptionally decent releases for their era.

I've been thinking about this, now that I have Motormaster...

Yes, the trailer for Motormaster could easily be modified into Thunder Clash's trailer - both have a base mode, after all.

But no, I really don't think the cab (Motormaster himself) would work well as Thunder Clash at all. There are just too many things working differently, looking differently, and ending up in different places to look much like G1 Thunder Clash (which is still an important part of current design philosophy - making it at least look like the G1 toy or animation character).

You could use some of the basic design concept, and modify it, but so much would need changing (such as the rear wheels / mudguard section being on the legs and split instead of moved up to be a backpack, and the legs could not work anything like the way they do for Motormaster, such as incorporating the roof) that you might as well not call it a re-mould at all.

If the have the mold's parts separated out properly, there's a possibility that they just use a different cab entirely (either a new one or a remold of some other voyager-ish truck) along with a remolded trailer, especially if they don't need the cab and trailer to combine at all.

Although I do agree that in the end to make a Thunderclash properly, it really needs to be a remold to the extent that it might as well be a whole new mold. Although I wouldn't be shocked if the toy ends up with a lot of Motormaster parts or engineering ideas. And just because it keeps turning up - let's work in parts of Siege Optimus' legs too.

Correction. Thunderclash is G1. Almost as late G1 as you can possibly get, but still G1.

Look at what they've done with Galaxy Force OP. Ultra magnus mold had nothing in common, yet they still forced it (and the result is crap). So I see nothing that'll prevent them to do it, in a cheap way with just some paint apps and new head.

Though if we count packaging variants, there should be four versions of Thunder Clash:

Turbomaster Thunder Clash (European packaging by Hasbro in English/Spanish)
Turbomaster Thunder Clash EN ES Antique Transformers Collection And More.jpg

Canon Masters Large Eagle (European packaging by Hasbro in French/Dutch)
Canon Masters Eagle FR NL Gerrutcamaro.jpg

Turbomaster Thunder Clash/Tonnerre (Canadian packaging by Hasbro in English/French)
    G1_Thunder_Clash_bio_Canada_Europe.jpg

Turbomaster Uragan (European packaging by GiG in Italian)
    Turbomaster Uragan 4.jpg

Also, the figure clearly isn't G2, since it came out in 1992, a year before Hasbro even launched the G2 line in the US!

Am I allowed to mix? Because I prefer the name Thunder Clash over Large Eagle, but at the same time Cannon Masters and Scope Masters makes more sense considering their abilities.

Just "Eagle". "Large" is jjust referring to the fact that he is not the same size as the figures from the main assortment. French/Dutch Rotorstorm was "Canon Masters Medium" Rotor. Likewise, French/Dutch Stalker was "Scope Masters Medium" Buzzard, and French/Dutch Skyquake was "Scope Masters Large" Crash.

For what it's worth, I tend to lump late Euro G1 in with G2 considering that many of the figures were either adapted or repurposed into the G2 brand. Obviously, there's an argument against it but G1 kind of cuts off at "Actionmasters" and "Operation: Combination" in their respective markets whereas G2 sorta soft launches with the Euro line and then comes into its own under the G2 branding. That's just what I have in my head and it seems to play nice there.
