What a (wide)load. "Tonka" does not exist as a separate legal entity anymore. Hasbro flat out purchased Tonka the company back in 1991. (>Source<) These days, "Tonka", "Parker" (purchased by General Mills in 1968 and then by Tonka in 1987), "Kenner" (purchased by General Mills in 1967 and then by Tonka in 1987) and "Milton Bradley" (purchased by Hasbro in 1984) are nothing more than Hasbro brands for which Hasbro the company doesn't have to pay anyone any license fees. "Tonka" is not a company with separate offices anymore. "Tonka" is just a trademarked name, nothing else. Don't believe me? Well, I hope you believe the United States Patent and Trademark Office then. The name "Tonka" is a registered trademark in category 28 (games, toys, playthings and sporting goods). Guess who the current owner is? "Hasbro, Inc." >This< is the oldest registered trademark that is currently still live. It was originally registered by Tonka itself back in 1978, and ownership was transferred to Hasbro with the purchase of the company. The intended goods and services for this mark are "non-riding transportation toys". >This< additional trademark was registered by Tonka in the middle of the Hasbro takeover, and is now also owned by Hasbro. The intended goods and services are considerably broader this time, namely "play kits and parts sold as units for playing board, card and similar games, toy vehicles, dolls and related accessories, toy action figures and stuffed plush toy animals".
I don’t think anyone has noticed, pulse has the figure height listed as 18” G1 devastator was barely 10” - guestimate, though having googled it that’s roughly right So this appears to be an upscale and is the same height as CW
From the product information on the Target website: Estimated ship dimensions: 2.24 inches length x 15 inches width x 12.01 inches height Estimated ship weight: 1.35 pounds Hasbro Pulse is full of it-- it'd be far from the first time.
Will those in CA have any issues based upon the materials it is made from? I know they tend to go overboard further than any other state & many countries on a chemical basis: Material: ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
The wonky measurements only appear on Hasbro Pulse UK and Hasbro Pulse Germany. UK has 18 inches, Germany has 45.5 centimeters. Hasbro Pulse US doesn't have measurements. EDIT: Target US also has the "18 inches". Chances are Hasbro screwed up, spotted the error and removed it, but only from Hasbro Pulse US.
Look at the weight listed as well vs G1, it's 1oz heavier. That means one or the other is wrong, either it's hight or weight because you cannot near double the size of something and have its weigh (within reason) the same. So what's more likely at this point, someone in a office some where typing in the wrong numbers and their supervisor not caring or knowing enough about the product to catch the mistake or Hasbro spending tens if not hundreds of thousands in tooling new molds for an exclusive with a limited market and run.
18-inches in height represents the length from top of Tonkanator's head to him standing on a fat pile of $100 bills from the massive mark up in price compared to reissue G1 Devi a few years back (inclusive of today's inflation figures which is at a "totally screwed" mark on the inflation graph).
No doubt this isn't an 18" figure. Can you imagine an 18" tall licensed devy for $100? IMO not gonna happen. I still love it though!
I was never a fan of the G1 Devastator toy, even when I was a kid, mostly because I considered it undersized. And to be honest, I probably would have been happy if they'd just recoloured/remolded CW Long Haul into a Tonka homage. (Not really sure I want a full blown Tonka combiner, though).
