Depends. If say, you got an updated Optimus Prime G1 that looks good and readily available, but some photo showed he will have Gray hand, will you be happy about it? Cause I've seen people raged over that in this very forum (and it turned out his hands are blue anyway).
This is pretty much my take on. I only found one reason for me to get this Minerva at all. I want the light bar for my Red Alert. So I'm not going to hunt for her the way I did for Red Alert. If the opportunity arises, then sure. If not, then whatever.
People are fine with complaining about Blitzwing even when he's faithful to his G1 toys. But people are complaining that people are complaining about Minerva not being a HM, justifying it "Well it's IDW" *Shrugs*
Personally, I'm undecided on if I'll get this Minerva or not. I've got a custom that I'm pretty happy with, though I do think that this Minerva looks really good.
Well, I’m about ready to start complaining about the complainers who are complaining that the complainers are complaining.
I guess the thing of it is people assumed that was the case, but that's almost as bad as assuming that every figure including store exclusives from now on were going to be a completely vintage accurate mold. It would be great if true, but unlikely to never happen again. I don't know, maybe if Minerva had been mainline with a planned Nightbeat retool, they might have made a new Headmaster toy. Well I've always found that to be different. One is a simple paint app for a Leader class figure, the other is rather extensive retooling on a Deluxe. In a perfect world I'd expect both and find both issues justified, but in reality and in this case I understand being bothered more by Hasbro skimping on blue paint for the $50+ toy compared to not being able to stuff a Headmaster gimmick into a smaller store exclusive retool.
even if she’s not entirely accurate she’s still recognisable, and I reckon she looks pretty good! I kinda wish she was a Headmaster, but I can live without it her being a Walgreens exclusive, on the other hand…
Just because it's the only media that uses the design and even showed it off first doesn't make it "IDW Minerva". They didn't create the design, only debuted it. You wouldn't say Wreckers Leadfoot is "IDW Leadfoot" even though he appeared with that design in the comic first, or any of the other toy designs IDW debuted over the years.
Actually I would, so don't attempt to tell me what I would or wouldn't do. If IDW is the only media in which a design has appeared in, then the toy is a representation of the character from IDW.
And I'm ready to complain about people who started complaining about the complainers who are complaining that the complainers are complaining. People raged that Legacy Blitzwing looked stupid even though it's accurate to his G1 toys. People raged that it includes a stupid big fist thingy. But for some reason, people complain about Minerva not being a HM somehow triggered lot of people.
I think she scales great but thats because i have never seen any media with her so i wouldnt know if shes supposed to be that small. Its also one of the main reasons im not getting elita.
Just canceled my Elita-1 preorder from Amazon. Looks like I have an excuse to peruse the old Walgreens again in the future.
If anything, people should be complaining about the painted wheels that are going to chip like crazy just from being rolled.
I don't think it's possible from the Elita-1/Minerva mold, but I'd figuratively kill for that TvT Arcee. And her buddy Velocity wearing her '77 Firebird alt. And then give us a redecoed Velocity Firebird as The Bandit (or Frog, we can always use more fembots) and a new mold '77 Pontiac LeMans cop car for a Buford T Justice-inspired Deceptibot. I think the bot mode could work, but her car mode is nothing like this mold. That being said, I would whine about the car alt while also hitting the preorder link as soon as it went live.
