The bot mode was a ragdoll mess, and those shoulders/arms are just atrocious. As mentioned, the necessity of removing the head kills the execution for me- but I also think that the TR line should have focused on headmaster characters we didn't get instead of forcing it on characters/figures which would have otherwise rocked. SS86 Blurr for example- just better off without the TR gimmick. TR Blitzwing's only decent mode was the jet and I'll die on that hill and even then it just has tank bits underneath it just like Legacy, they are just slimmer and less well designed.

But the tank. Good gods, the tank.

Compared to a bit of "animation accurate" cockpit, the TR front was all tail fins and jet engines, foot heels just sticking up with no where to go. And the rear of it, where it's just 100% of it draped in the jet mode's wings? People genuinely do not hate that figure as much as it deserves.

Anyone who thinks that TR is better than Legacy is just wrong. They can have a preference- sure. But to say it's better is just wrong. For all of Legacy's kibble issues (none of which are as abhorrent in person as stock images made it out to be), I think each and every mode is better than TR's.

Legacy Blitzwing utilizes every bit of space the figure has. It folds and compacts in places that genuinely surprised me, and where they absolutely could have rested with a somewhat lazier upper body design, the parts that fold up and over the head to give it the full chest is well done. He's a sturdy sumbitch who swaps between modes with little difficulty compared to some other triple changers and one may even say he does so smoothly.

The upward range of motion on the neck joint is incredibly awesome to get him into some aggressive stances despite all his bulk PXL_20220622_152511495~2.jpg

I'm still getting this figure for Bot mode.
But if MFT's gets OSKO'd I'm running with it.

I see a lot of praise for thrilling 30 springer. Was siege springer regarded as suck?

That's subjective, I thought it just wasn't a very good transformation experience it's a bit of a pain going to each one of the modes and the helicopter and car mode are really not impressive enough to justify the hassle, the robot mode looks good but the shoulders seem unfinished, the knees and hips were extremely loose on and he just never looks natural due to his proportions in any pose you put him in

Can only speak for myself: I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaathed it. Things that weren't supposed to come apart popped apart with ease, and things that WERE supposed to come apart required absurd force (on my copy at least). Finally, they cheapened out on the wheels and just dipped light grey plastic in black paint, resulting in chips and scratches on a figure I hardly tough let alone handle. It was my biggest purchase regret of that year.

So weird as I prefer him and don’t get the hate.

Mine has relatively tight joints so no posing issues here. That said, he is not at all intuitive and there are parts that are def too tight to the point you’re not sure you’re doing it right.

Still, I didn’t like the IDW design of the T30 figure and this figure looks good in all modes and feels solid in hand. He’s a keeper for me.

Blitzwing? Still I decided. I really do like the TR version.

Robot mode is great, vehicle modes are alright but don't really peg together, transformation is absolutely horrendous.

Also, the QR codes for Wave 2 seem to work: I scanned Blitzwing, and his code worked, and I used the Wave 2 codes in the QR code thread and they also worked.

I wanted to like it a lot more than I do. However, mine has a litany of QC issues, which I think is also holding it back a great deal; to that end (and as a comic/profile fan) I'm hoping the upcoming Wrecker Springer fixes those for me.

Some of my issues include one of the wheels doesn't roll, I had to almost break one of the joints in the cockpit to get that piece to swivel properly for alt mode, and I had to future/nail polish the crap out of several joints so the figure could even stand up on it's own. I'm also in that group that really dislikes the battle worn paint deco's on Siege, so that doesn't help either.

Moldwise the shoulders really felt like they could've had another pass in design, but after a while the transformation didn't feel bad, it's just so different from the smooth and fun design that T30 Springer had (of which mine is an excellent copy).

I intended to get a second one and perhaps exchange it, but that wave came and went quickly in my area and I never saw another one. I even had one on pre-order somewhere and it got cancelled due to lack of stock.

I guess I'm in the minority. I actually like Siege Springer. But I don't have T30 Springer. I do think the alt modes look crappy but passable. He's the most cartoon accurate version we're getting, unless they do a SS86 Springer which I doubt.

Honestly I prefer Siege Springer. T30 springer was impressive, but it has a lot of fiddly aspects that, when handling him again, make me really appreciate how solid Siege Springer's altmodes feel in-hand.

Outside of some off tolerances, I think it’s the best Blitzwing Hasbro has done.

    Yeah. Aside from off tolerances.

And the goofy headmaster thing. Those shit shoulders. A tank mode that has more jet kibble falling off of it than anything remotely close to Legacy. Wings that tend to fall apart...

Nah, having recently picked up Legacy? It's a far superior Blitzwing.

I like the Titan master feature. I honestly wish every character still came with a detachable head/driver.

I find the distribution of tank parts on TR better than Legacy. The shoulders, while an odd assembly, work just fine on my copy.

He ain’t perfect, but he’s good enough and I already have him.

Legacy looks more like the animation model, but since I’m not a Sunbow first guy, that isn’t a big selling point for me. Very little about Legacy really inspires $52 worth of impressed in me. I don’t think this guy is worth spending $52 on when I already have a perfectly serviceable Blitzwing.

IMO it’s only truly better if you’re a show accuracy fanatic.

Not to mention how the Titans Return version's face was totally slopped over with glossy purple paint that just looked messy and made detail vanish

The whole thing is just a mistake. From the off-whites that get muddled into the soft tans, the overly-detailed bits that just get lost in the mix, the spindly arms. The toy is just a blob. But I still just can't get over that there is almost zero tank mode. It has the sides of the sides of a tank, and a turret. Other than that the entire tank body is just jet bits. It's bad.

Like I said before, preference is one thing. But Legacy is just a better toy all around. If it's only gimmick is "animation accuracy", at least the gimmick doesn't come at the expense of quality, unlike the TR figure which was hindered by crippling gimmickry.

Legacy Blitz may technically be the best figure of the character out there but the strain for g1 show accuracy kills it for me. Imagine what they could have designed if they didn’t need to worry about integrating a cockpit for the tank mode or faux wings for the robot mode. I guess it’s less the fault of the figure and moreso I don’t care for HasTak’s design priorities right now.

one other small nitpick, he suffers from the metallic face paint that Kingdom Rodimus and Galvatron did too. It obscures the face sculpt. A matte color probably would have looked better.
