Here's a dilemma; the figure looks great in robot mode.... but it now becomes a Part former for vehicle mode....

 

Hmm. I like how it looks in robot mode, but I don't like how partsformery it is. Shame.

 

Well I might not use the bottom of the feet ones, but I wonder if the thigh parts will get in the way of the Matrix weapon kit?

 

You mean the kit of Knives and backpack plate?

i THINK it wont work... the back plate SEEMS to stick on the back roof and "SEEMS" to use the same holes the back of the thighs parts pegs into to hold...

I just opened up my Battle Across Time "Maximal Skywarp" figure. I like him quite a bit, although I would love a more authentically bald eagle-looking head. Also, I miss the wings-as-cannons gimmick that the original BW toy had. It had functionality very similar to the White Falconzord from Power Rangers (aka Tsubasamaru from Kakuranger). They even both become chest cannons for their respective combiners (Magnaboss and the Thunder Megazord/Muteki Shogun). I'd love an upgrade set that includes a better eagle head and new wingtip parts with fold-out missile cannons. Not like those wingtips aren't popping off all the time anyway...

 

I have seen the other threads concerning the 3P upgrade kits, but I find them quite incomplete... especially regarding small unknow or almost unknow 3P companies (such as, for example, these two that I have presented)! So, if the administrators are not going to delete my thread, I would like to continue with introductions and lists, especially of these "small companies with great potential", which often nobody talks about!

I just got Dragstrip the other day so I was able to install his upgades I think perhaps the set I bought early was a poor choice though it was missing pieces and I think the newer one with more parts is a better bet - though what I did get is nicely moulded the opening seat for the head is very tight fit and if you think you might ever want to remove it maybe sand it down a bit first but I tried the reversable helmet ones first and they are crap - I don't recomend them at all they look really silly in ether mode. & stick out in robot mode way to far Maybe if you repainted them but I think the folded seat one is less visually intrusive for vehicle and combined mode.

I also got the wheel covers - the ones moulded onto a frame sold in 3 colours - I bought silver to better match the previous toys and the other Legacy stunticons - but I may buy another set yellow set "just in case" they ever make a G2 Menasor gift set sometime.

They work super well they fit perfectly tightly into the outer wheel and so rotate with the wheels rather than sit in the middle unmoving like most such covers do. Highly recommended.

The sword looks interesting. The LED blast effect looks to be same as their previous one, which is a problem, since the peg is tapered and janky. One picture also makes the sword handle looked taper while another one does not. They briefly used tapered pegs for various kits and they were terrible. Hopefully the sword peg is injection molded as their newest handles have all been injection molded. The dino gap fillers look the same as before and nowhere near as nice as the Go Better style dino fillers (they were supposed to have a Jurassic version set but never released it). The jeep fillers show SL's problem of not painting sets outside of black and silver. They used to paint different colors (and quite well) but not anymore. The clear gap fillers look terrible too. We're skipping this one unless the sword is sold separately on eBay.



I don't think SL has done Ironhide mold gap fillers before, so these appear new. These don't appear to have the weird protruding bits their old gap filler sets have had. However, the red parts are in clear plastic and look weird.

I have their Core Skywarp kit sitting in the post office atm as they decided to not deliver it yesterday. I don't plan on using the gap fillers since they're the same as the terrible Core Starscream ones.

 

That one company that did the fillers with the shot gun never did release a version for Tyrannocon Rex did they?
