Wave is a bit of a let down. Only gone in for Grimlock so far.

 

These look like they are from the 80s. I wonder why they only did 3 for this wave

 

I didn't say earlier but I adore the additional heads Soundwave and Starscream come with.

I believe in Soundwave toy-head supremacy.

 

I didn’t recognise it at first on account of his being blue and purple.

 

I was a bit lukewarm about this wave, but to be fair we will be 12 figures in before we get any repaints which doesn't sound so bad logically. I do hope they tweak Screamers head.

 

These are great if you want RED figures that are less poseable, more expensive, and look worse

 

Or if you want a RED-style figure that doesn't feel like tacky plastic.

 

These definitely look better than RED figures, no doubt about that. The RED figures all look soft, cheap, and awkward. Don't really care if a figure can do the splits when it looks like shit doing it.

 

$55 brand new?! What a scam. Could probably track down a lot of the original Action Masters in good shape + accessories for $55.

 

Well, I’m with you there, so at least we can be idiots together. Assuming the updates they’ve been posting are accurate, Wave 2 didn’t leave the 3D model phase until feedback form wave 1 started pouring in, so there’s a decent chance they’ll have been table to take some of that feedback into account. My fingers are firmly crossed – I’m hoping for the best Tracks possible!

 

I live for this. Like, how awfully dark must you be to make figures of a dead father figure and sell him to kids and young adults? It's hysterical.

I can't get mad at this. It's a treat to see Hasbro and co find new ways to sell Dead Optimus Primes on the market and see what they do with it.

At least it's better than calling it "Sleep Mode"

 

It's yet another way to recreate Dark Awakening in all it's fucked up glory.

 

So overall, people who have Wave 1 in hand are you happy with the figures? I wanna get them but I am unsure, even after watching some reviews on Youtube

 

Some are, some aren’t. The trickiest bit is always recognizing who’s most vocal. The biggest concerns seem to be aesthetic, so if you like what you see, you’ll probably be happy.

 

I’ve only got Prime and I’m only planning on getting Banzaitron out of wave 1, but I’m having a lot fun with Optimus. The elbows are a huge pain in the ass and are without a doubt the worst part of the figure. However, the accessories allow you to have fun with all the display options. Honestly the best way to describe these would be “updated action masters.” If that’s you’re thing, there’s fun to be had. If that sounds like something not up your alley for $55, probably best to pass.

 

I’ve already mentioned that I’m lukewarm at best on Banzai-tron. I’d say that initial impression has only gotten slightly worse over the last week.

The elbows are annoying and never seem to give you the kind poses that you’d like. The utter lack of integration with Razor-sharp just gets more frustrating. I won’t be selling him on, but wouldn’t recommend him given the $55 price tag.

Which is a shame, as I really wanted to like this line. I was hoping they’d be up to the bar set by other franchise’s Ultimates releases. Sadly, they’re just not nearly as good as the TMNT and Thundercats Ultimates.

 

Weird proportions aside, I legit do like the RED series a lot more than S7.

 

Boy all the RED/Ultimates comparing really makes me wish we just got a proper Action Master revival. Unified size, engineering, with full accessories and vehicles.

 

Preach. Maybe work pretenders in there too, with the shells getting articulated action figures and mainline core class "inner robots" to go with them.
