These crossover characters should come with generic Cobra and GI Joe soldiers instead of rereleasing characters already sold. People could always use them as troop builders, instead of doubles of one specific character.
popt beachcomber did this way better at a way smaller scale years ago, who the hell is designing these horrible gijoe crossover figures?
so I’d have to be much more selective and choosier with the limited amount of purchases I’d get to make? …sounds like a much healthier manner of collecting!
cool but no ankle tilts again? these look like they are part of the old universe line. not a bad thing, but it is what it is. would be a cool line if they had modern tf advances
Beachcomber did it better because he didn’t have to accommodate a G.I. Joe figure. Keep in mind these were designed to be G.I. Joe toy first and foremost. There’s a reason why they’ve been showing up in the Joe livestreams and not the TF ones.
GI Joe is a elite combat task force. Beachcomber is a pacifist. 'Bee is perfect here as the AWE Striker is a recon vehicle, it's small, and 'Bee isn't a pacifist.
I hate it too. I'm a GI Joe fan. I'm a Transformers fan. I'm here for GI Joe/Transformers crossovers. And I absolutely hate this figure. Vehicle mode looks good. But, that 'bot mode. Ohhhhh that 'bot mode. Ugggghhhh that bot mode. it's absolutely horrible. Plus, it's Bumblebee. And the last thing this fandom needs is another damn Bumblebee crammed down our throats.
Why not Hound? That yellow looks real cheap. Kids like BB, but this lines for fans from the 80s so… collectors… who dont obsess over BB?
I didn't expect anything beyond the Megatron H.I.S.S. myself. I haven't watched the livestream. I wonder if there are more characters on deck. I'd be down for this to be a line with just a few releases a year. Dude, that is amazing. While I'm not going to defend Hasbro's having assortments that were mostly variations of Bumblebee in the past, that situation hasn't been going on for years now. But, by all means, complain away. I mean, Hasbro is stupid for using popular characters that will sell. Right? Isn't that your point?
Beachcomber still fought when needed, other wise he wouldn't be an Autobot. Cliffjumper would have been a good choice too, I heard that suggested. An AWE Striker is a vehicle that jumps cliffs.
Indeed...although he'll fight if he has to. "No interest in warfare; prefers long, lone trips into deserts and along coasts... only places he feels he can escape to and relax. Cool-headed, low-key, personable -- what Earthlings call "laid-back". Fights when called upon despite anti-war feelings. Range of 800 miles... can go over very rugged terrain. Sensors can determine chemical composition of land and find needed resources. Susceptible to mental stress." As good as a fit as he'd be for this alt-mode, his personality doesn't fit it at all. (And Bumblebee is a more recognizable character to sell the set as well.) If they keep churning these guys out, maybe we'll get an eventual repaint/retool.
The way I see it, these aren't Transformers that turn into Joe vehicles, they're Joe vehicles that happen to be Transformers. It's semantics, but there is a distinction. Both got revealed during Joe streams not Transformers, both put a greater priority on accuracy to the Joe vehicle and compatibility with the Joe line and they are out of scale with any previous Transformers releases in recent memory. Given that there seems to be a greater focus on the Joe end of the collab, I don't really expect all the bells and whistles associated with the Generations mainline figures.
If there was an entire line of TFs with GI Joe altmodes at brick and mortar retail, my wallet would be in so much trouble.
I like this mold more than the Megatron. Definitely picking it up. I do wish they hadn't forced so much yellow on it though. Really messes up the alt mode. Bumblebee doesn't HAVE to be yellow. Transformers can and do change colors when taking on a new alt mode.
