being that menasor is only just a little bit taller than siege jetfire has me a bit irked. they definitely could have made it bigger, hopefully they do voyagers/ leaders for the combaticons and constructicons because a bruticus being that small just doesnt seem right, same with devastator

No. Just… no. Menasor is plenty big as is. The individual bots should be priority for scale, such as it is. I hope a future new Devastator is the same size as Menasor.

Devastator only needs to be big enough so this scene can be re-enacted when we get a new Broadside.

HasTak can always go back to doing a full wave of just one combiner if they want to, or start a new line / change Studio Series’ parameters again to get out more toys if they want (Studio Series ‘87: The Rebirth?)

I always keep reminding myself just because Hasbro has done something in one way recently, it doesn’t mean they won’t change it up if it’s financially viable to them.

I still say we get Studio Series ‘86 Constructicons starting next year after the Dinobots are done, with them finishing him in time for summer 2024 & the middle of the 40th celebrations. If we get an Autobot one next year in the regular line that’s two in a year there!

As for Magenta Hot Rod / Movie colours Galvatron, I do think we’ll get them eventually (probably for the 40th anniversary?) We know the design team have them on their radar, as the Hasbro designer Lenny recently said he wanted Hot Rod to be in his Magenta colour scheme for his recent SS’86 figure, but at the time was too new to the team to persuade them.

Now his more well known colour scheme is out the way, these repaints are perfect for an exclusive somewhere.

Hasbro could, but depends on how long they do the “Legacy” thing where they incorporate all universes. I have to believe they want to do the Legacy thing for more than one year. Focusing on just combiners would push out everything else.

I know. It's hard for those of us who've been collecting from the pre CW days to adjust to this new era where Hasbro really does seem to be minimizing the cash in redecos. I mean for a few years you got the Swindle is a jeep, so's hound so let's throw them together. (Which I kinda like, as I like to see old characters in new forms and not getting slightly modified versions of the Sunbow G1 design over and over.)
So if they do Ruination I would be prepared for it to be somewhat retooled. I think straight redecos for Menasor, Superion, Bruticus, et all will be G2 colors or toy colors.
BTW, the downside of this greater accuracy and fewer "lazy redoes" as some call it is going to come back and bite us in the butt with prices ever escalating as we already see and potentially fewer character slots available in the future. That's why I'm enjoying Legacy's focus on the whole brand while I can!

I don’t care about scale in that respect. I care about Optimus being bigger than the Autobot cars. The combiner limbs being around the same size. The Minibots being smaller than the Autobot cars. I feel all the triple changers should be around the same size. The original toys were like that and the comics had Broadside the same size as the others. Robot modes should come first. Vehicle modes will never be in scale.

If vehicle modes where in scale broadside would HUGE, on the plus side though in vehicle mode you could land all the autobot jets on him. You can have maverick buzz the tower like he does in top gun 2 (btw great movie). All this would require him to be a haslab.

Hay ladies and gentlemen introducing the next haslab project god class broadside. At a whopping 10 feet long in vehicle mode.

You know, seeing all of this discourse over which combiners need to be redone next and when/how got me thinking... Hear me out, because this idea is a bit out of left field here.

Why not simply make a combiner capsule line like Shattered Glass or Velocitron, but less "exclusive?" Make it like "normal" Gen Selects, where it can be widely available at a variety of retailers online (Pulse, Walmart, Target, GameStop, Amazon, etc.) and focused specifically on individual combiners and their components, with each wave completing a combiner. Have the production numbers of the figures be around the same as normal Gen Selects figures like Deep Cover and Tigertrack when they were around, not limited like SG sometimes tends to be or (Primus forbid) the Seacons releases were.

This would alleviate the issues of having to use slots within the normal Generations-styled lines for combiner components, all the while letting the designers pick and choose which combiner they want to work on next. Maybe even make it a Versus theme? "Wave 1 will be Bruticus, with Wave 2 bringing in his rival, Defensor!" Obviously, keeping each individual robot in their specific price points to ensure the proper engineering is there (leader/commander for the core components, deluxe/voyager for the limbs), and it frees up space in the other lines for more obscure characters that may have taken even longer to come out because combiner characters were taking up the slots. It even allows for more obscure combiners, like Rail Racer and Road Cesar. Win-win for everyone, no? Legacy and related lines don't get clogged up with combiners, and the combiners get free reign to get the engineering and care they need to come out amazing.

(I know this idea isn't perfect, as I'm probably missing a lot of the economics and other minutia that goes into lines like this, but I wanted to throw it out there as an alternative option for getting the combining characters everyone wants for their collections)

Bot mode scale ≠ alt mode(s) scale

Bot mode scale matters in the modern toy line. Broadside's alt modes matter not to the figure's size.

Not only that, the carrier mode of a Commander Broadside would more or less be in-scale with the 1:600 microfigures that come with Unicron/Centurion/Reformat Galvy/Ark.

I'd wondered about adjusting one of Broadside's altmodes to synchronize the scale a bit. Either turn the boat altmode into some sort of battleship or turn the aerial altmode into a larger space cruiser.
