If I ever decided to get the GS Cyclonus, it depends on how well the symbol applied. If the symbol is crooked or imperfect, I will make the that one into IDW Cyclonus.

 

Received mine today. I took some photos and was going to share but I see others have done that already.

Anyway, here a couple in alt-mode where I tried something a bit different with the guns (borrowing from the original Cyclonus too.)



Smaller guns probably work better for this, and seeing the hollowness from the bottom doesn't help, but it's okay.

A nice looking craft in these colours, I think. Obviously without any stickers here. I plan to be sparing here but I think I'll make use of the deceptions logos (not all3! One on nose cone or one each side... not both) and possibly pep up the wings a bit.

 

Sweet! I didn't think the powdery violet bothered me at all, but now that I saw this! .....Happily pre-ordered!

Yeah, the darker purple looks better. Just not sure I need another Cyclonus, with a color scheme soooo similar.

I see you don’t have any issues with discolored joints; do you have any issues with him being loose?

 

I have just been charged this morning by Hasbro Pulse UK so hoping to have this guy in hand by the end of the week. Ever since I got Kingdom Cyclonus I loved the mold, but really wished it came in a darker purple, so when the rumours came about that we would receive a toy coloured version I was ecstatic, though when he was revealed I had one problem with the figure; his grey forearms. I get what they were going for, but I feel they would have looked better being fully purple, here is a quick digibash of how I wish it looked below:



I don't mind the wings being dark grey, and I admit in alt-mode the arms/wings look nice and I feel replicate the G1 toy quite well. I'll have to see in hand if the grey forearms really bother me as much as when first revealed.

 

Pretty sure the wings and their portion of the forearm are un-paintable plastic. It was a necessary concession.

 

They definitely are not.

 

Yeah, I picked up a Kingdom Cyclonus for a custom and learned the hard way about the unpaintable plastic. Certain parts took paint fine, while others (nylon maybe?) turned out a mess that I couldn’t salvage.

Fortunately Hasbro is issuing the darker deco now, and I’ll probably just build my custom around those colors, although it won’t be as involved. I like this mold— the transformation engineering is brilliant— but hated the lilac color of the Kingdom variant and strongly dislike the head sculpt. I intend to replace it anyway.

 

Those do look good.

 

I think he might be a bit loose ( and to be fair I didn't put him on any major poses, aside from standing there holding his guns up) but nothing that affected the figure yet badly.

Actually, I'll post the robot pics too. Doesn't matter if others have done so as well. One of those effects is shown in the instruction being attached to the smaller barrel of the little guy*. It's a smaller post though and it drops off. Possibly I stretched it putting it on the larger barrel pegs first, before I saw that pic in the instructions, but think I would have noticed the fit. Not a big deal I think it's better from the larger barrel. Looks like a more heavy duty energy bolt.



*His name just popped out of my head. Sorry.

 

I love everything about this recolor except those blue highlights.
Holding out for a proper Targetmaster color version.

 

I tried out several sets of similar weapons, and those really were the one that stood out as best fitting... the smaller ones also look pretty good, but found that these were a better size and fits better for the type of weaponry I can see him carry... even in robot mode, he has connectors on the legs that allows them to be carried.



But he really should have come with two guns and them being full and not waffles, so that they would be on the wings so to look proper/better.

12:55 - visible stress marks on the hinges of his jet thruster / inner ankle pieces.

 

Uh… the wings on the original cyclonus have paint on them, and on this version so do the arms.
