I'm also right there with you on Wildrider. He was always kind of my least favourite Stunticon. But this one looks utterly gorgeous. Love that shock of red on his face and arms here. Really pops!

I'd love to see a more modern updates to the Lazer Rod guys. Especially the cons.

 

With a little bit more paint and a new gun, Laser Optimus is a joy




The TR Optimus gun also stores nicely inside the trailer  

 

That silver goes a long way on those shoulder rockets! Not sure if you’re interested but there’s a filler piece available on shapeways for the TR gun but then again it’s a nice compatibility feature to keep for the base mode.

 

Those TR guns work so much better with him. Same with the Sword.

Update on my g2 (with his buddy)

 

By the time G2 rolled around, I was mostly checked out on Transformers. Not completely, but enough that I had very little from this toyline. Laser Prime was not included in this little assortment. The flashy colors and huge moniker printed on the side of his trailer just looked tacky to me. I’m kinda glad I didn’t own him then. It might’ve turned me off getting his Legacy successor.


Now I’ll admit LLP needed a few tweaks, but I really love this iteration of Prime. The style is just so different than what I’m used to with Optimus, but in a good way. Now, it’s not so much “flash” as it is “subtle cool.”

It’s definitely a different look for Prime, but I think it’s one that suits him. It still epitomizes his strength and skill as a leader. But, now it’s like he’s got a bit of a playful side to him, like he’s loosened up a bit. Probably not a bad call after coming back from the dead.

I had to make a few modifications first. 1) He needed a proper gun. Not a fan of the RID ‘15 figures, but Stormshot had a nice pair of pistols that could combine to form a big blaster rifle. Looks supercool on LLP. 2) I saw a couple other users paint his knee pads. Thought it was smart. Gives him a bit more flare to keep those pads out and it helps draw attention from how “leggy” he is. 3) Like many others, I couldn’t stand not being able to distinguish his eyes. Decided to go with the yellow instead of baby blues on this figure. Still shows his playful side and can still be taken seriously at the same time. This next tweak was a bit more unnecessary, and yet…..necessary.

Im letting him borrow Siege Nemesis’ sword. The Energon sword my copy came with is warped. Thought this would be a nice fill-in. Might be a permanent switch depending on if I ever try to fix the blue sword or maybe give him Shattered Glass UM’s sword when I get him.

I know some people complain about the shoulders or at least their lack of articulation, but I think they’re a bold design choice. He looks good with them. And , at least IMO, they don’t really hinder the rest of his articulation .


His truck mode is fire, literally and metaphorically. I love the more Peterbilt vs. Mack vibe it gives. Red and black are good colors on him.

I like the tanker more as a trailer than a base. This seems even more useless than ER Prime’s trailer, but there is potential here. I think it’ll go nicely with Red Cog once he’s released.
Overall, after some minor touch-up’s, I’m very satisfied with Legacy Laser Prime. He’s just fun. Anymore, that’s all I care about.

 

You guys have insane levels of skill to paint the eyes as well as you have. I'm scared to touch mine. If only the head could be disassembled...

 

I was literally thinking the same thing. I want to paint his eyes yellow so bad, but I don’t have the dexterity or steadiness to do it. I’m too worried about screwing it up and he looks derpy or something.
