    TT's response:

The TT lovers crap on 3rd party, but least many of those companies will offer a solution for a defective product.

As someone who collects TT and 3P (working on FT bots rn) I don’t see much TT people crapping on third party threads. A lot of people just stay in the TT threads and do their own thing. Meanwhile… 3P people crap on TT, each other, and sometimes themselves too…

I don't think it works that way...
My general perspective is that collectors tend to buy the version of the character that suits their particular view of a character, regardless of what company is behind it.

Of course that there are purists that are attached to a brand, and collect every single release, but I don't think that's the majority.

Me for instance, my collection is mainly around FT's and TT's, my target is set for cartoon accuracy but I'm tolerant to the point of ignoring some details, if they are there for the benefit of the engendering. I've finally finished my FT Iron Dibots, I know that they are way off when compared to the cartoon, but they are awesome representations of the characters, and I doubt I'll ever trade them for Sunbow accurate versions.

Other example, Powerglide. FT announced that they are making their version, but I doubt i will change my mind about getting the DX Version, because to me he's good enough to have on my shelve as a representation of the character.

This. I know that I for instance barely go into 3P MP threads, and if I do it’s for figures that I like and want to buy. I don’t “invade” the MS Radiatron thread, for example, and then declare that those figures are stupid or ugly or whine about how they don’t fit my preferred aesthetic (which indirectly insults those who choose to buy it, btw, I know many folks here like to pretend that isn’t something that happens but it very much is). I will, therefore, frequent the XTB Ultra Magnus thread, or the MMC Bruticus thread, because I like those figures and am considering purchasing them. In my opinion that’s how everyone here should operate, but I understand that many people here disagree for some reason.

You guys are right. The 3P-only fans are MUCH more rabid than TT-only fans, although in my time on this board, I've seen a great deal of animosity and vitriol on both sides. I never understood why anyone would care about what someone else is collecting. It's childish to me, but whatever...

I collect both TT and 3P as I like what both have to offer and buy what I feel fits my collection needs, however, my gripe with TT is that they don't acknowledge when their products have issues. Any time I've had a 3P issue, I would write in to their customer service and someone would take care of it. It would take a great deal of time, but the issue would get resolved. With the many TT issues I've had, I just had to accept that I was SOL and resorted to Youtube videos to repair myself.

I think it's because 3p are trying to stay afloat in a niche area where only fans who have been in the community for a fair amount of time know they exist, so they can't afford to completely ignore fans.

Takara is just a little bit different. Just a little.

Edit: I also collect both to get whatever I see as the best version of any character, or whatever I find neat. But I haven't had the same experience with takara customer service because I've never had issues with their figures. Hound is amazing and Sunstreaker is one of my faves

Yall. Takara isn’t allowed to provide direct customer service outside of Japan. It’s part of their agreement with Hasbro. And you can still use Amazon Japan to replace entire figures! I’d call that support. We’ve been over this again and again.

I'm still getting FT, but yeah, all of what you wrote. I know there is going to be a KO eventually, but the price is still reasonable enough for me to justify keeping the PO.

I really don’t think it’s appropriate to say “TT fans do this but not this” or “3P fans think this”. I’ve seen 3P fans who bash MP products almost reflexively and others who pay fair compliment to it when due. I’ve read TT loyalists’ vitriolic disdain for literally anything made by outside companies, and then others who acknowledge third-party efforts even if they themselves choose to stay with official product. I don’t think the distinction is TT fans vs. 3P fans. I think it’s open- vs. closed-minded people. And there are both types in both camps.

Anyone thinking one group is comprised of angels and the other devils is completely deluding themselves. People are just people, and it’s their own character that determines their behavior, not their toy preferences.

Well, I don't have too much to add to the color debate/conversation going on here.....

    But, I will add this:

Sitting here looking at my 3rd Party MMC Terragis, which I always thought was a fantastic stand-in for TB; (especially in bot mode) I AM glad this upcoming figure is going more toon with the dark charcoal gray.

I think it'll be more screen accurate, especially when standing in an Autobot MP group shot.

    Just my 3 cents.

(3, because I feel like my opinion is a bit more valuable than most) :p

Is today the last day to back out of preorders for this on Amazon.jp? I know it said 5/27, but Japan is a day ahead of us.

It's 29th, not 27th, but it'll definitely be determined by Japan (given that's the seller)

This is true. I never, EVER see any TT-only peeps there. I really don't know why "official only" collectors get such a bad rep TBH, they don't do 3P, it's not even an option, it is a choice. That somehow offends some.

I collect both, but if TT does a version, that's the one I'll get, no Q's asked. I had the FT one PO'd and I canceled the day the TT one was leaked, it is that simple.

Oh well, January can't come soon enough.

I had FT Outrider POed for what felt like years and really loved the robot, but the truck design was a big letdown (and alt mode is important to me) so I eventually cancelled. I really like the truck mode of MP-56 and the robot is ok. I’m considering it only if I think I can pull off a decent black repaint.

Same here. Had TT not announced this I’d be getting the FT version next month. I’m sure many are doing the same.

Missed opportunity by FT for taking so long, but it works for moi.

I’m sure Moist is a done deal now, so I won’t be looking at any other options on that.
