I wouldn't be surprised if they did that on purpose just to give us more reasons to buy the more expensive premium line. A good example would be the first DLX BB movie Prime prototype that was exposed at TFcon in 2019 which had accurate translucent windshields with visible details underneath instead of the solid black they went with on the final product. Same with the Blitzwing prototype which had the correct orange-ish color for the cockpit windows instead of the faded yellow that we got. These issues along with a few others were fixed on the premium versions of those figures.

Also, I just realized what seemed off about the combined mode compared to the movie and I'm pretty sure it has to do with Prime's knee guards being bigger than they should. I'm aware they had to do some of that "movie magic" in order to shrink them down but still.. one more reason why a separate figure would've been the way to go. You can't blame me for wanting this to be flawless after all the compromises made to Prime and Jetfire. I'll most likely pass on Jetfire and just keep Prime at this point.

That ascribes them way too much malice. More likely is that they found ways to improve those aspects on bigger figures, or got access to better reference material. Plus: two entirely different markets and they know it, as well as all the premium figures having their own stylization. ROTF Prime is toned down in style compared to the bigger one.

Actually they really didn't need to. They should just have made the blue piece being removable, then we would put the spring where it is, and Jetfire would come with a smaller, accurate blue piece that we would place in the thigh. Simple like that

And there's that red piece in the knee that should be hollow... Damn everybody pointed that out, and it really didn't look hard to make

To me, it looks more like the left pic the figure is in semi squat position and the right fully straightened out. BUT, I should be able to see for myself in about 3 weeks :p

What would it have to do with that piece?

oops, criss cross, lol...so the squatting position would change the perception and angle of the piece...hehehe
You have the DLX Angry? Try squatting him down and you'll see the angle of the hips etc change. But like I said, I won't know to test for sure until another 3 weeks.

EDIT: Phffbt...now that I did the research I'll have to negate the left pic, it MIGHT be preferred for some but that's Prime1 Studio's version, so a different product....(of the same figure of course). Statue vs Figure! ;)

I personally don't really care too much about those small inaccuracies in the combined mode. I went into Optimus knowing that he's not perfect and that Jetfire isn't as well.

The engineering feat that they accomplished to even get such a good looking Jetpower Optimus mode by combining two figures is insane on it's own merit. It's hard enough that they need to make Bayformer designs fully articulated but combining two of them and having it look good is something else entirely.

If you want a $3000 statue that's gonna just stand there and look good while being accurate, buy the Prime 1 statue. I think Threezero did a great enough job as is with these figures. Can definitely be improved in a few areas but damn did they do a good job for what they are.

It's crazy that this combined mode is still super articulated as is.

@Angry fan ah I should have read more, lol...I just woke up during those postings...any way, since we are comparing a statue and an action figure, I can't really say the 3z one is not accurate, meaning, is it supposed to be hollow or just darkened? I don't have that statue to compare it to so I don't know. Perhaps if someone had a really clear screen capture from the movie to see what it should be? (I was going off of @floriol 's pics as well, circles always help to highlight what each of us are specifically talking about ;) )

And I completely agree with this, this thing is still amazing in its own right. In fact, I did give Threezero the credit they deserve for what they managed to accomplish here. It's just that I expected them to go the extra mile with the jetpower mode after all the compromises made to both figures. We could've had 3 movie accurate figures for less than it would cost to get them separately as they are now since that means buying 2 of each. That's just how I see it.

If I'm not wrong this is the only image we have of the CGI model besides the movie, so yh they should have a hole

Impulse purchase because Sideshow points were going to expire.
Not sure how much I like him. Was wanting to wait for an eventual Evasion repaint.
Still not sure I need the Jetfire dlc.

    Hmmm.

Not really sold on the DOTM abs, but that AOE chest is very interesting. I've come to believe that an undamaged version of the AOE, may have actually been the single best looking movie Prime we got. Really did a stunning job of mixing the best of the G1 with the best of the Bayverse.

Might have to get that, maybe.

I agree the DOTM Kit is a bit sus, it also hinders the ab crunch to a degree, Vihn Lee showed that part too in a post. It juts out a bit too much, but that can't totally be helped.

And I also agree, Evasion Prime is an excellent design. But I like the TF1-2 Prime better because it did it's own thing, while retaining the key design elements of Primes; being red and blue, having window tits and the "helmet". Maybe the grill would have been too much, but hey they did it eventually. I think on Peterbilt Prime he still has the grill but deformed. Grill-ish, yeah? The horizontal looking parts on each end.
    Screenshot_20220521-234552_Photos.jpg

Still it's amazing how they were able to get that design into the flat-nose cab. Even though his robot mode should be a bit smaller than his Peterbilt body, no? Unless the extra mass was just kibble distribution.

Anyway, Evasion Prime good, that Upgrade Kit is a definite buy. And I remember this sick edit exists.

I do adore how jetfire looks but the waterslides being included is a complete joke in my opinion. 350+ and you have to apply waterslides which are known for being a pain in the ass? Cmon now.

Confirmed as waterslides? Look like dry rub but nobody's gone on record confirming either way. PvP just assumes.
