Got my ThreeZero in. Nice figure, smaller than the CCS so he doesn't have the imposing look to him like my other CCS, but dammit, $400 at this time was much too much. ThreeZero; Height: 23cm / 9.05 CCSToys: Height: 24cm / 9.45" I also think CCS has much more bulk along with the .40 in height.
There is hope in this timeline now. No more tiny revoltech, model kit etc. Just pure action figure gokin goodness.
Mmm I'm torn on this personally. On one hand I'm just happy we're finally getting a high quality Lazengann. On the other hand I ended up not liking their Gurren Lagann that much, and I'm not immediately sold on getting Lazengann as a counterpart. Need to see more.
I just recently discovered CCS Toys and I'm really intrigued by their previous Gurren Lagann release. I've never watched any of the shows they are releasing figures for, so I have no idea how nostalgic or accurate they are, but the sculpt, paint application and gimmicks seem incredible! How do all their figures stack up to one another, as I see that prices have gone up steadily since Gurren Lagann, then Mazinger Zero, and finally Shin Getter 1 is approaching $400 even overseas. It looks like Mazinger Zero is available still in some stores, but personally I love the look of the earlier Gurren Lagann the best. Unfortunately, it seems it's out of stock everywhere except a couple sites which have over a 100% mark up. I'm not sure it's worth it at that price. For people who have more than one of CCSToys' releases, how would you rank their build quality and overall presence/value if factoring out the nostalgia factor? I mostly collect some Transformers and Gundam, but have one display area dedicated to one off mecha figures from my child hood (Voltron, Evangelion Mega Man X, etc). I'm considering getting one of CCS's figures to complement this collection, haha.
I have both the Gurren Lagann and Mazinger Zero releases and I do really like them both. Looking to eventually getting the Shin Getter. The one big issue I had with Gurren, which also seems to be a common one, is that the face that comes attached with the head is really hard/almost impossible to swap out without actually damaging it (I believe due to excess paint). You were able to reach out to CCSToys and get a replacement, but I’m not sure if they’re still continuing support and the product has to be bought from Japan.
Thanks for your thoughts! Yeah, I had read about that common issue and I'd definitely be afraid to force the face option off at these aftermarket prices. I'd definitely buy Gurren Lagann at the MSRP, but I'm wavering on whether it's worth the aftermarket price at the moment. Though I think I like this design more than the others (Mazinger Zero and Shin Getter), those seem more readily available at MSRP so I might go for one of those instead. Does the Mazinger Zero have any issues other than the batteries draining quickly due to the touch feature?
I finally shipped my Shin Getter since I wasn't sure when I would get my apartment. Anywho, for CCS Toy's 7th year anniversary project Shin Getter 1 is tremendous. First Getter toy I know that tried replicating all of that getter energy flowing through the body. I have a few minor complaints such as the tab for the LEDS on the crotch and chest are little too easy to activate, but if u never have batteries in them you'll be fine. Also the scythe on my copy does not attach as securely to the staff as I would like. CCS toys have learned some things here and there since bringing out their Guren Lagann. I can't wait to see what else they crank out.
incredible pictures. lazengann looks sick, but i'm not sure i really need it on the shelf. of course, by the time it comes out i could be in a total lull TF-wise so i might end up getting it anyway if it's impressive enough and i'm bored.
Thanks! I have GL so lazengann is an absolute must especially now in high-end toy form. So far of the 2 CCS toys figures I own I'm pretty happy with their products so far.
