I was just thinking about a kitbash of the RG 00 and 00 Qan[T] because absolutely adore the Qan[T]’s design but like the 00’s weapons more. It’s been out in Japan for some time now. I’m debating getting it from Mandarake but I already have the regular Calamity coming and shipping larger kits from Japan is crazy expensive now.
Didn’t see when they went up right away but managed to get in my order for the Gundiver and both the Doan’s Island kits. Hopefully the blu ray gets uploaded right away. I can’t wait to see the movie.
This is for science!! Mixing Mr Hobby's Aqueous Gundam color and Testors Model Master acrylic, using Tamiya acrylic thinner works! Just need to make sure the concentration of paint to thinner is right because the aqueous color is thicker than my testors mix.
USAGundamStore is doing a 25% off special this weekend so I'll be taking advantage of it and getting Blazing Gundam as well as a pair of their nippers (comes with free shipping so hey), but I also need a new matte spray that will kill the shine on waterslides. My old standard dullcoat isn't cutting it anymore and so I need to up my game if I want stickers and slides to look like the promotional pics, so I can then actually get through my backlog. I'm looking at this: B530 Mr. Super Smooth Clear Flat Would this work or should I go for something else?
Mr. Super Smooth Clear Flat is a good choice in general. That's Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Matte from their topcoat catalogue - impressive stuff! Mr.SUPER SMOOTH CLEAR <FLAT> SPRAY | MATERIAL | TOP COAT / SURFACER / PUTTY / CEMENT | GSI Creos Mr.HOBBY The write-up is entertaining as well. "Mr.SUPER SMOOTH CLEAR FLAT is developed on a concept of "make the surface smoother!"."
please don't misunderstand, I mean no harm but I know them from ancient Macross kits so seeing a Medarot kit which I know isn't from the 80's is a bit jarring...
Don't apologize my dude, post your Medabots to your heart's content! You're hardly spamming the thread or anything. Honesty I didn't even know these models existed. Are they articulated at all? They're clearly in need of paint.
Looks great! I love the Command Qan[T]. The way it repurposes parts is brilliant and it looks great. Speaking of retools, that new Schwalbe Graze is pretty great. It actually fixes an issu eI had with the regular Schwalbe that I didn't even notice until seeing them side-by-side: It replaces all the big thruster bells with more subtle vernier nozzles and it really changes how the design feels. It's no longer as... cartoonish? It looks less like a regular Graze covered in thrusters and more like a machine built around higher maneuverability. Only thing I'm not loving is the head but, predictably, there's an easy fix for that as all the armour parts of the original Schwalbe are still there: Unfortunately you can't just straight up build a red Schwalbe as it's lacking most of the old thruster bells, but you can get close. I love when kits leave functional optional parts left over like this.
Well, they don't move that much, there are no joints in the knees and the joints in the thighs and hips are a little loose.
So, just secured the Mr. Hobby Super Smooth Flat along with Blazing Gundam, the badly needed pair of single edge nippers... ...AND I FINALLY FOUND A GODDAMN 30 MINUTES SISTER. Who is the real reason I jumped on ordering this stuff as opposed to the Battleogue sale going on right now (which essentially was enough to just cover the taxes). Finally, things can get moving again with the backlog.
We don't worry about any of that here. Just ask MS-X84-F2. *it is a she, that's just the umbilical remnant* Kai's growth is showing. - Speaking of off topic, talking with a friend of mine who's plowing through his Warhammer figurines and sliding back to plamo. He scored himself the Bandai Mandalorian kit (regular not silver), wanting to figure out approaching it with acyrlic wash. So I went Astray from the Wing Zero tonight and worked on the Vehicle Model Razor Crest using a bottle of Testors black detail wash for this kind of work. I mopped two coats on everything which I will buff the excess off after it dries. Keeping my paint to the bare minimum, save for the cockpit windows and some nub mark patching.
Just found out that the Mr. Hobby Super Clear I ordered is actually laquer and isn't useable for the purposes I just bought it for, which is waterslide dulling on unpainted plastic. Can somebody PLEASE FUCKING TELL ME what I need to make waterslides not look like shit!? Dullcoat no longer works and everything else I find conflicting answers on!
For waterslides, one thing I find can be useful is to apply some Mr. Mark Setter on the surface you want to apply waterslides on before applying, which could allow decals to adhere better to rough and curved surfaces. optionally, you could apply some Mr. Mark Softer on the applied decals (But just before topcoat) to ensure optimal adhesion, making it seems like the decals have melted onto the surface.
Oh damn, sorry. ; ~ ; I mean they did say that it'd make unpainted kits look like they were fully painted but if lacquer is bad for your unpainted kits then I mondo apologise.
