Finally got around to fiddling with this guy. Kind of mixed feelings on him. Plastic doesn't feel cheap, but doesn't feel like the WFC plastic that was used. Trailer needs to be about 10-15% larger to scale better with the alt mode. He is still a fairly decent update of the original. 6/10 for me.

I'm 1000% going to get Scourge/Black Convoy, but the more I see this guy the more I'm tempted. Never owned a Laser Prime before and I'm a big fan of his look and G2 as a whole, but part of me wants to have my first "experience" with this mold be the character I have much more of a bond to.
I'll probably end up getting him but I think I'm just being impatient waitin on Scourge

Only version I have is the CR2000 Black Convoy. Never really liked the Laser OP. Then comes that atrocious United. :puke2:
What da Ef was I thinking?o_O

Then comes the PO which I got for the heck of it. Boy was I wrong. 20220519_213703.jpg
Aside from the choice of optic color another awesome OP!:buttrock

The head popping off issue has been resolved on mine. Anytime I would twist the head, pop! But after using "excessive force" to make sure the head stayed on the peg, I twisted that head around about 20 times. It must have created the groove or notch it needed. But still...that was weird...

So the head isn't on a ball joint? Good to know, the head on my copy is ridiculously tight so I couldn't tell one way or the other.

The head is red and clear plastic painted blue. Mine was fine

Glad yours was fine. Mine was not. Now it is.

Not sure why the head colors or plastic matter, though. The ball joint is red and I'm pretty certain the socket is red plastic too. This rarely happens on figures but I've noted there were a few other people experiencing the same problem - this is apparently how to fix it.

Mine was Painted blue. My issue was his eyes had blue paint splatter and Glue haze... had to clean them. He also has no paint around his left Eye. Red plastic shows through. I call him Last Light G1 laser Prime. Hope I find a better one some day.

image_12114_106.jpg I've seen pictures of it done before (but can't find them atm) but what is the image_12114_106.jpg way for this figure to use its trailer like the way MakeToys' Battle Tanker could?

I’ve had this guy for about a month and didn’t know this piece existed until just now (I don’t use instructions btw) I don’t remember seeing this in any reviews? upload_2022-5-20_23-35-44.jpeg

Finally got my pre-order from Amazon and, as expected from following the threads on TFW2005, it met my lowered expectations..

Bottom line first - an *okay* figure, doesn't hold a candle to the original mold in innovation, freshness and presence.
Actually, I think the deluxe RTS version is more fun overall and more dynamic (as for the size aspect, it probably better fits the Legacy trailer)

    A little more in depth-

    Pros:
    - I love the Laser design, almost as much as I love the original G1 design - the fact that I got a new version for this design is already in itself a plus
    - truck mode is quite nice
    - transformation is mostly fun and intuitive

    Cons:
    - The proportions are skewed IMO - the short upper part vs long lower part fits with current Optimus Prime 'look', but combined with the 'shoulder towers' it seems.. off
    - the arms are skinny (especially the upper part and connections to the chest) and contribute to the 'skewness' of proportions
    - The shoulder towers connecting to the chest rather than the arms limit articulation and posing
    - the overall color scheme is a little dull and muted (without the stickers that livened up the original Laser version)
    - the trailer is a little too small in relation to the cabin (truck)
    - QC issue (on my copy) - the head movement is severely limited - not sure what to do (if at all)

...that's precisely what instructions are for, though. PvP did indeed showcase that panel in his review. If you didn't watch him or read the instructions, you should. Kudos to Hasbro for including it filling in all the gaps, and making his torso look solid.

I've seen a lot of people post this opinion, but to be fair, the torso doesn't stop at the waist swivel.
The crotch and hips are part of the torso.
Granted, everything below the waist being the same color definitely doesn't help this perception.

It’s in the instructions and thread for it in the feedback review forum. I don’t always use it as it seems like the option to store the sword in the back(when not using that piece) was designed on purpose and it looks right to me.

VERY NICE! I just ordered Cromer to color match Laser Optimus and I own Centurian so I'm going to definitetly use your picture as a guide. Thank you.

While the Matrix Workshop is cool, I figured there was more value in gettibg a $20 Cromer than a $23 uphrade kit.

While I 100% agree, it is a faithful remake. How is it going to be innovative and fresh.? I do enjoy the transformation alot and feel its pretty innovative compared to the original..

On the hand, I would say for $55 it would be nice if they included a bigger trailer or more accesories.

You are right about the 'innovation & freshness' part :)
Perhaps it would suffice to say that the original mold's shelf presence is significantly greater IMO than the latest Legacy version.

    I got mine today.
Messing with it after work I found the head was not on the ball joint fully, which caused the tight neck joint.
Another case of "pull the head forward to pop it in"
Which I did, and the head works as intended.

To any future buyers who encounter this, try nodding he head up and down.
If it won't nod, the ball joint is not in the socket, so pull the head forward.
