Translate it as Nemesis and it\'s a cool new intepretation!

Translate it as Scourge and-

 

I have this ugly conflicted set of feelings here, with "I want this" smashing headlong into "I'm extremely disappointed", which is probably going to end up evening out into "I'll get it, but it's going to need some work."

* Truck mode is quite nice. Some deco differences, kinda comparable to giving Legacy Laser Op the Bay-style flame deco, but nothing that bothers me, but the robot mode, HOO BOY!

* The transparent bits are closer to Takara hot pink than the Hasbro red, but that's OK with me. The light-piped eyes are nice (in light), and drives home that Laser Op had that too, but decided to make "looks good when lit" to "looks good never" by painting over the back of his head.

* No silver 'slant' markings on the chest windows or shoulders. Kinda thought that would happen since the chest uses transparent plastic.

* The 'missile pods' parts in the shoulders are unpainted, and spill red underneath the covers, making the area look straight-up incomplete.

* TOO DAMN MUCH black over the torso, not enough dark gray. This is most frustrating knowing that some parts, like the upper chest, are clear red painted over in black, so why not paint it approximately the correct color?

* Even so, some of the detail work is quite nice, though it's akin to painting perfect trim on the wrong wall of the building.

I'm still interested, but I'll almost certainly be investigating my options for paint, and seeing what ToyHax comes up with for the toy.

 

We'll see what the package says when it shows up.

I'm with the group who would much have liked this to be more dark grey in the torso and to have slightly less HOT PEENK, but I guess it will suffice.

 

I personally have no care for the "accuracy" of Black Convoy, it seems so silly to me for people to be so pressed about the colors.

I’m halfway tempted to gamble on the possibility that Hasbro will release a separate robots in disguise 99 Scourge In the actual deco on the left. Because honestly I just think that looks better. I really wouldn’t mind the deviation from the norm if it was better executed, but for example I really don’t like the way they did his cod piece in a totally different color than the rest of his hips.

These two figures are just so different that it’s hard not to imagine the actual deco we were expecting being released at some point by somebody. Maybe Takara?

I agree they should have casted the pink translucent parts in grey And just painted the sword. If they wanted to make it a real centerpiece they could’ve just gone all out on the painting, maybe some digital deco to make it look like it’s glowing or something. But again… it’s hard to imagine them NOT actually doing that at some point down the line. Technically Black Convoy ISNT RiD Scourge…. Maybe that’s what they’re going for?

 

I'm thinking that since the mold exists, and if Hastak start delving more into RID/Car Robots territory (possibly as part of a Legacy-type toyline), a more accurate remold of Scourge could happen (though it would be more likely to be something from Takara).

Of course, this would most likely take years, but similar things have happened a number of times, especially if there appeared to be demand.

(Hasbro seem to tend to go for straightforward recolours, possibly with new heads and accessories. Takara, though like their (occasionally extensive) remolds, and a more accurate Car Robots Scourge would be pretty simple to do compared to some of the stuff they've pulled off).


I still intend to get this, though.

 

I think he looks good and if I didn’t already have nemesis…I would get this. Clearly not the OG deco but some of that makes sense for the old toy because of parts arrangement.

 

I am going to pick this up but i\'m gonna paint it up like scourge and wait for the eventual toyhax set for the chest detail 

 

Well the colors are right, they're just distributed a bit differently than the original. Not in a bad way really, just a "not my childhood!" way, and why you get such loud reactions from the drama club here.

Which is doubly weird when you realize people should be more upset still that this whole Laser Prime from Earthrise Prime rework is already kind of lazy garbage no matter what colors they use to try and hide it.

 

The jab at PvP is really unnecessary.

Why can't people just enjoy the early looks at a toy?

 

cuz stolen / spoiled reveals aren't cool.

 

Personally I think it would be better to take those years and wait for the version people really want, and risk it not coming and going without, rather than "hate buy" this one.

 

Morally questionable, sure, but that seems like an odd stance to take when leaked listings and early reveals are their podcast's bread and butter.

 

This guy is a stooge. He even uses PvP's photos for his video.

 

Because an actual surprise reveal from the people who made it once in a while would be.. nice?

 

Talk to Hasbro about that.

 

Dang. I really wanted Hasbro to not make me want this but it’s tempting.

Cuz of the G2 body, I can’t see this guy as anyone but Scourge.
