I think it looks decent, but I completely understand the complaints about there not being grey on the main body. That was what set Scourge apart from all the various Nemesis Primes over the years. I also don't really care for the translucent pink on the shoulder pauldrons but that was inevitable based on the base mold. At the end of the day my opinion doesn't matter whatsoever since this was going to be a pass from me no matter how it turned out. I'm perfectly content with my original RiD Scourge. It's still one of my favorite TFs ever.
You say that, but I think for a lot of folks accuracy always matters, there's just a threshold under which they say "eh, close enough".
True true. Again, definitely not a super accurate version of the character/toy and I can understand the gripes with it. I love Scourge and he definitely looks a tad different here, but for me at least I don't mind the differences too much. If anything I kinda like the changes that were made.
Kingdom exists and has some of the best Post-G1 updates in a very long time. The only show Hasbro is actively shafting ATM is Animated, and arguably Energon as well, though the less said about the latter, the better.
Ultimately we have no clue. I have some tinfoil hat theories, but I can say definitively that it's not because Cartoon Network owns any rights.
Once we get a voyager size update to Energon Starscream Hasbro can forever ignore Energon. But until then, we’ll be waiting…
I passed on Laser Prime in favor of waiting for Scourge, who I was actually excited for. Unfortunately I'm in the camp of not enjoying the deco, so I'll be passing. I already have Siege Nemesis Prime, so that'll have to do.
Pretty sure its just how vastly different the art style is and translating it to their desired aesthetic takes more work than they want to give it. I'd do some unholy things for prowl or lockdown
A few of the others deserve decent updates. Optimus and his various combiner pals, for example, though they should follow 3P's example and put him on a diet.
All of Black Convoy's translucent plastic was pink. That's just how it is, buckaroo. You can try to memory-hole it all you want, but Black Convoy's translucents are pink. That means windows, headlights, whatever's translucent gets to be pink. More pink? Even better! Making up for lost time. It was literally the only interesting thing about Black Convoy's deco, and the only thing that separated it from the more boring Scourge/Nemesis Prime decoes. They rejected my message! They hated me because I told the truth!
This is obviously not Scourge and it most certainly isn't CR Black Convoy. This is literally just G2 Nemesis Prime. Not that idea is a bad thing but really not what was expected and certainly a let down compared to previous Scourge offerings what few there were. Hadn't planned on getting this guy since I wasn't a fan of Laser Prime but man after seeing Override there was small part of me that hoped I'd be surprised in a good way.
Never cared about RID - neither the show nor the toyline. At the time, it was useful for getting some older G1-G2-BW toys that were otherwise never released in Hungary or out of circulation, that\'s it. Gotta say the colors are rather boring. I think the original had more teal? One thing I never understood, the upside down G2 symbols. I mean, he was a Decepticon/Predacon, why not those insignia? And if he wants to display them to show how much he hates Autobots... why the G2 symbol, which none of the RID Autobots used? They had the G1 symbols.
And yet TFP gets not only anniversary reissues of hard-to-find toys, but brand-new toys reimagining the characters in modern CHUG ahead of TFA. We got a handful in Reveal the Shield and that one really crap homage in T30, that's it. Zero other recognition.
This will be my only Scourge/Nemesis Prime figure. I already got Laser Prime but I’m more then happy to double dip. The lack of grey is disappointing because it does look good but this deco is not bad either. My Decepticon Secret Police subgroup will be complete soon…
