I wish the fewture ex-gokin line was more successful. Beautiful paint, decent articulation and diecast metal parts. I still love my prime which keeps me from jumping in on S7 and RED line. Figures look fun though.

I do wish that Bombshell's shoulder legs at least folded outwards to get out of the way, but this is about what I expected.

That's a great picture. And that pose you have starscream in was the first time I thought "Oh, wow, he actually looks pretty good"

These don't look quite as bad as I was expecting. If Flame Toys doesn't announce one between now and fall I'll probably be in for a Tarn.

Just got Banzai-Tron today. He looks great, but I can't say I'm not a little disappointed in the articulation. I'm hoping for a 3rd party Razor-Sharp, though. And really hoping we see Ghost Starscream redecoed into Action Master Thundercracker.

Got Banzaitron, and I like it, not the best figure I got but it poses fine enough and scales fairly well to my eye, wouldn't go all in on this line but definitely feel good with picking up G2 Megs and maybe Tarn too

Anybody have more comparison photos? I'm just wanting to see more cool photos and comparison shots.

Speaking of Razor-sharp, I know he's not virtually no articulation, but does it disassemble easily at all? I'm wondering if someone would 3D print a few new pieces and it'd be able to articulate more.

Definitely seconding Action Master Thundercracker though! I love those colors and it'd be perfect on an non-transforming to too. I wonder if they'd do some remolding or alt parts to make it a bit more like the AM toy as opposed to a generic G1 Starscream. And along that same line, I'd love to get the actual Action Master Starscream colors too. It's a nice variation on the usual color distribution while still using the same basic colors.

Interesting...that would be fine and all, but I'd personally like to see more new Sunbow characters first.

I've had Banzai-Tron for a week. Great figure but the Targetmaster is useless. So close to what I wanted and yet just out of reach... :(  And for the price, disappointed.

Interesting. It's hard to tell, but I think it may be involve a number of new parts and not just deco changes because a lot of the dents and chips seem to be partly sculpted in. If that is the case... I have to say that I would have rathered all that tooling time/budget had some to a whole new character, but I get it - Optimus sells.

And hey, you don't need articulation when you're dead.

Dead Optimus is neat, but Dark Awakening Optimus would be perfect. You could probably recycle a good portion of the molded parts for a dead Optimus into zombie Prime too.

Non-transforming is honestly the only way to do it right anyway, as all the damage would end up making transforming hard (unless you want a zombie truck with parts missing, which could still be cool).

I received the Ultimates Optimus Prime and Ghost Starscream earlier this week. Here are my thought's on Prime (I'll follow-up with SC later).

Pros - I love the dull/soapy finish. Along with the painted windshield (which is the perfect shade of blue IMHO) it really captures the animated feel. Despite being mostly unpainted, there aren't noticeable swirls or marks on the plastic.

Cons - as I had previously noted from the pre-production photos, Super7 inexplicably ignored the original "athletic" Floro Dery animation models and seem to have chosen to base the sculp on random off-model frames taken from the actual show. While I'm sure you can find an actual animation frame that matches any given feature of the figure, it definitely has the boxy, undetailed look akin to when Prime is animated from a distance rather than from up-close shots.

In addition, the production model dropped some of the cartoon-accurate detail at the bottom of the thigh, directly above his knee and also omits the grey paint on the front of the toes.

The final detractor is the lack of articulation. I have to admit, I dismissed many people's initial criticism of the articulation since I'm generally an "A"-stance display person. However, with the figure in-hand, the articulation is pretty frustrating. His arms would be great if not for the elbow bend that is limited to ~45 degrees. There's really no excuse for this, as the actual animation model shows a "notch" at top of Prime's forearm that could easily have doubled as a joint. I'm not a fan of the soft rubber waist section either. This section really has to stretch in order to even moderately pivot the thighs up or outward. Seems like this is a recipe for long-term damage to the waist. Even if I keep the legs straight, I question how long it will last before the rubber becomes brittle and begins to crack. Finally, the ankle pivot is almost non-existent due to the sides of his legs extending all the way to the ground on either side of the ankles. While this is animation-accurate, I personally don't think it is worth it. Looking at the engineering, it seems like there would options to get more pivot with minimal visual impact.

Overall thoughts - I still enjoy this figure. The colors and overall cartoony feel are what appeal to me and it delivers on that. However, it just could have been so much better with an improved sculp and more articulation. This just isn't up to the standards of some of the other Ultimates lines by Super7.
