So do you have to try to be this obtuse or does it come naturally to you?

:lol  And YOU started this dumpster fire of a thread by comparing toys in different size classes.

Dude, why are you posting like you're trying to recruit us into a cult? Your weird obsession with "toy weight, hollowness, waffles and part counts", pressuring us to go to youtube and learn the truth they will teach us.

Youtubers who disregard how good a toy is because its not heavy or tall enough is a sure fire way to get me to disregard everything else they say. There's a local youtuber who blathers on and on about it and its exhausting.

hate to say it but i agree with this guy more than anyone else on the site lmao. modern chug is boring as sin, if i really had to pick between "muh mini masterpieces" and "weird nonsense toys with odd proportions and scales" id pick the latter.

as for rising prices, dont bullshit about the pandemic. the oil conglomerates are profiting more than ever, and bs like "well the pandemic caused it" is exactly what they want you to say. it isnt hasbros fault, but oil prices are higher because the oil companies like money.

with that out of the way, i used to buy most WFC toys, until i bought the vintage bw guys and a few UT toys.
    mind.
    blown.
i realised transformers normally do more than just stand there "filling out a checklist" or whatever you geriatric lunatics think they're for. transformers are toys that turn into other things AND have cool features added in. they. are. toys. if you really want MPs, buy them. demanding that a retail line forgo everything that makes a toy fun in favour of bloody cartoon accuracy is lunacy.

the collector mindset has completely ruined chug. actually fun gimmicks have been pushed to the side in favour of articulation, toys seem to be designed to look cool in photoshoots rather than be fun. seriously, if you want an articulated robot that looks good on display, why dont yous buy gundam kits lmao? why did people demand that transformers become gunpla lite, that happen to transform?

the result of these changes to chug are visible in Europe. the biggest stocker of transformers, Smyths Toys, seemingly cant get rid of them. massive discounts on kingdom toys, just as legacy toys come in at a higher price. chug will die at uk and irish retail before the end of this decade.

I'm currently counting the parts for TR sixshot, POTP optimus prime, siege shockwave, siege astrotrain and legacy galvatron. I will update this thread as I go.

Yeah i agree with most of that its just his stupid bullshit hes bein ggong on about recently i dont like, crazy thick plastic, heavy on gimmick, crazy toys would be great, but hasbro wont just give up profits like that. If you really wqant soemthing to play with and fiddle with some of the cyberverse gimmicks are ok

I love my experimental 90s-00s toys with a passion, but that's not where the industry is anymore, unfortunately.

With the toy industry waning, and other economic factors strangling them, it's eminently clear that Hasbro is prepping an exit strategy. And their one clear goal now is in creating a unified, cohesive, modernized cast of as many G1 characters as they can, branching into the other continuities where possible, for as long as they can possibly hold out. They're not looking to reinvent the wheel anymore. They're in for their one last shot of nostalgia bucks before it all becomes untenable.

The nice thing is that you get to vote with your wallet. I'll buy the former almost every time.

Except BW. I really dislike their designs.

Yours is a different, more balanced argument.

On the one hand I agree regarding missing gimmickry and the fun that comes with it. On the other I love the focus on a collector aimed Generations line prioritising articulation and sculpt.

What I'd love is the former making a return with a level of balance from the latter in a wholly new toyline with new characters and a new storyline to accompany it.

The OP, if you check in on his threads, doesn't want the fun back in the toys, just a return to his apparent hallowed land of nine inch Leader class toys. Everything, in almost every thread he's in, returns to that point above all else.

I can’t find a link to any YouTube channel that’s doing parts counts for each individual figure. Can you share the link to those videos?

Now count Ultra Magnus. Because it's very clear that Shockwave's budget was shortchanged to make Magnus possible. Shockwave is lighter than the average Leader Class of the era, but Magnus is significantly heavier.
