I started collecting this crap 25 years ago when it was virtually ALL used toys from someone else that you collected over year through far less easy means than nowadays. And it was fun then.

That's more or less where things have returned with me. And that's kinda fun.

None of us really need any specific figure now. Or next week. Or in six months. But if we just pay attention, it'll likely show up and a decent price. And while not for everyone, there is a little bit of excitement that can come from that compared to just hitting up BBTS and ordering everything to your door. But then I am 40.

I just go back to buying older figures to clean up and/or customize.

It blows my mind that people are defending that Override on the basis of "engineering." Did they not watch the same review? There was nothing particularly complex there. I said I liked the figure but now seeing it billed as a voyager is questionable.

Probably also the cost of making a new mold for her. Origin Bee was a small, all-new mold that got put at $20-25 due to the new stuff, and they also decided to try and fill out the mold and make it worth a Deluxe with the Energon rods and jetpack. Also Retro BW Rattrap, who is all but confirmed to be a new version of the mold (seeing as how the original Rattrap mold seems to have disappeared), and got bumped up to the $20 the more complex Cheetor was going for. So probably the same deal here. Considering Cosmos has shared engineering with Warpath (NOT a retool, but shared engineering), I can see why he'd still be a Deluxe but Override wouldn't. Same reason why Terrorsaur's got shared engineering with Airazor, yet can still be sold by himself for a Deluxe price (and before you bring up the Golden Disk, keep in mind the upcoming Buzzworthy version, which doesn't have it.)

They make lots of new deluxe molds every year that don't cost $35 (or whatever voyager prices are at that time). Origins Bumblebee got extra stuff like Earthrise Cliffjumper got extra stuff to bump it up to deluxe class. BW Rattrap was more likely a victim of not wanting a separate price point for one figure.

I'm totally pulling back from collecting. I've passed on both Bulkhead and Arcee. Only pre-ordered 2/5ths of the Wreckers. Passing on C. Metroplex unless he goes on deep clearance and passed on The Ark since it wasn't at all the Ark I wanted. Life is getting too expensive these days so I HAVE to be more picky in my toy purchasing. but I totally would be buying all of these 25 years ago.

I mean also the fact that these are selling in a singular retailer in countries, with no real reuse option for them to get their money's worth. Origin Bee and Rattrap are fairly unique in their designs, and I doubt they'd make a Packrat reissue in the future. Override's got more options, sure (they've already been discussed in this thread), but Override's still fairly niche. Plus, Kingdom Optimus Primal's pretty much the same height as Siege Ironhide, only got a singular reuse in the Nemesis Primal recolor, and was only in 1 wave with no repacks, but he's still fairly well made. Override seems to be the same deal, with lack of kibble, filled out parts, plastic that appears to be pretty dense, and the cannon which feels a bit more complex than some of the other weapons Deluxes tend to have in WFC. As well as that, they probably wanted her to come out really good, seeing as how she's basically the face of Velocitron; if she was at a Deluxe budget, I feel she probably would've been compromised in some department.

That and 6 Deluxes in a line would've been overkill, especially with Clampdown and Cosmos being shortpacked in a case of 8.

For those worried that Override isn't worth the Voyager price tag, maybe she comes with extras like Hotrod does to justify the price hike.

There's been multiple times he hasn't had all the accessories, or even the right accessories for a figure, so don't go by just his review for that.

Override more than anything convinces me there's been yet more budget cuts for the Transformers team. Not only is she at or below the size and complexity of deluxes through 2010, I'm not convinced she's got anything going on (beyond pinned wheels) that would have disqualified her from being a deluxe during Siege or the early days of Studio Series. There's just nothing there to make her a voyager.

If I actually manage to get my hands on one, I'll be very interested to get a parts count for her and see just how much engineering there actually is. Deluxes from Beast Wars through mid-Studio Series generally had 45 - 55 plastic parts, and my gut tells me she has about that many too. Even SS Hot Rod had well above 55, but does she?

I think Override is a decent figure, and I plan to pick it up. but the pricing has gotten ridiculous. The wreckers 2 packs for example. They should’ve packed Leadfoot and Impacter together, and not bothered remolding/redecoing the fossilizers. Those packs both are effectively $45 for a deluxe figure and a throwaway I dont care about. And I get Hasbro is in this to make a profit right, but like, what does 1 mold cost? because yea there is plastic costs, paint, labor, etc to factor in. but I would assume they’re raking in way more than they spend per mold. And like, when 3rd party costs are staying roughly the same, despite material shortages and the sort, I’m starting to get fed up. I only recently started collecting again and I’m debating dipping back out. I got Lift Ticket for example, he’s a big deluxe (I guess? I only have SG Blurr to compare him too from recent lines.) but like, he comes with 1 accessory. and is overall just a “meh” figure. So where did my $ really go to? ya know?

. If all UT toys get pushed up $10 because they are adding two repainted micromasters as minicons, I'm going to laugh.

I actually like this Overide, having the original and consider it an ok figure but can see that a modern engineering would be great, and I do like what I see.

Like most here, I agree that it's another Hot Rod that is a "advanced" deluxe (aka what all deluxes should aim for at the price they are now going, which IS voyager pricing now from just a few months ago) that they are pushing as a voyager, but as I've not gotten any other Legacy figure, and that I just looked at the 3rd party versions and found it to be either unavailable or at scalpers pricing, this one appears to be the only option for a modern take on it.

I've said this before and will say it again..

    1) I hate the cheapness with the gaps, the lack of accessories and cheap decisions on so engineering (lack of wrist rotation or such) so that a figure that could be near perfect ends up needing an expensive 3rd party kit to bump it up.
    2) I don't regret the figures that I do get (despite the issues of #1), I just regret what I paid for them.

Funny that I can pay for a 3rd party that will cost 10-20$ more for a similar size/class and don't feel cheated as those feel 10x more solid and most come with plenty of accessories, while I see many that claim that they'd pay Hasbro more for the cheap crap they do.

To use Hot Rod as example, he may be a Deluxe + figure compared to other deluxes, but he feels like what a deluxe SHOULD be like, that extra 10+$ isn't in scope of the value/price that the 3rd parties do. Those are (repeating myself) like 10x better, while Hot Rod is like 1.5x better than a deluxe, and not the Voyager+ class type of the 3rd parties.

But the choice remains to be either pay to have the figure or simply skip it.
