That's my general take on these to- it just seems like they could have tweaked them a bit to really improve them, and I think that would be inline with the Ultimates line. But, as it is, I get the message that these just won't be what I want them to be and I hope some people are happy with them.

That being said, I find the sculpts okay... except that Starscream just looks really off to me. Which is really a shame since the seeker mold has almost infinite potential for repaints.

 

Starscream's face is absolutely unforgiveable :S

 

It's like G1 Starscream trying to do a TFA Screamer impression but not quite nailing it.

As much as I love the toy head, that Screamer is... astoundingly bad. Like the proportions are just a bit wonky and the head is really terrible. I genuinely don't get how they could've messed up a face that badly. It's not even the right color.

 

A year and a half later and we're just NOW getting pictures of them?

Holy crap that's awful. Everything from the original that made it look promising has been lost: the smoke parts are way too dark, the assembled parts have show-through issues, there are problematic paint sections, and worst of all is that huge, fat glitter looking like a cheap vinyl Dollar Tree toy.

 

As someone who desperately wants to love these, I finally had to go ahead and cancel my Starscream pre-order. The face is mind-boggilngly bad. I don't understand how the GI Joe, Thundercats, and Silverhawks lines can absolutely nail the cartoon character models while Transformers look like they grabbed a poorly drawn frame from a random episode. I really, really hope they can change the trajectory of this line to bring it up to par with the other ultimates licenses.

 

Hey now, I just watched that episode. Prime was surprised to get past Tracks, and only did so because Hoist was off playing with his LEGO instead of helping maintain his fellow ‘bots.

Starscream is getting dissed pretty hard here in the comments. He's also the only one in the line I haven't ordered.

Buuut, you know.... after seeing this, I actually like him. Not sure why, just a little charm about him that I can't put my finger on.

I like what Super7 is doing here and hope the sales are good enough for them to continue.

Well hot damn, BBTS actually got these in quickly. Consider me very surprised (and a teensy bit annoyed other Ultimates have taken so long). Banzaitron just dropped in my pile of loot.

 

Got Ghost Screamer, Banziatron and Prime in mine. Though not likely to ship them till August. I just shipped a PoL recently.

Brian Flynn mentioned in another interview that EE and BBTS have their own separate shipping containers so its kind of a race to see who gets what first.
