Maybe for Michael Bay designs, but I haven't seen a G1 UT figure that's gotten me to spend any money yet.

Yeah unfortunately their G1 figures aren’t amazing looks wise. Transformations though, still beat the competition.

They are more efficient in making accurate (regardless of fiction) transformable toys at reasonable prices.

I find it funny UT can make better and more fun transformations on much more complex designs than FT normally does on the simple G1 designs.

UT did a really good job with two of the 5 Combaticons? Swindle and Brawl were great, nice in bot mode as well as alt. The rest were only middling though.
I kind of agree with this, at least in theory, and purely for my own personal collecting direction, although for me I'd probably rephrase to say they are "the CURRENT apex in G1 Masterpiece figures". A lot of the Legends stuff from NewAge and Magic Square is stunning, all the more so given the limitations of the size they are working in. And while FT are, 9 times out of 10, the best version of a character, they can be beaten, and their older designs age just as badly as everyone else's work. I also feel that their designs are at least half the time better than Takara's as well but random bots do appear from Takara and from other companies that I prefer.

Having said that, I have no problem with picking up KO's of their figures for my shelves. KO's, 3P's, customs or whatever.. none of them diminish my collection. The only thing that diminishes my collection is figures I don't like the look of. I would happily collect multiples (I do alt and bot mode) of FT or Takara stuff if it's the best version, but a combination of price, availability and (for Takara at least) QC issues means I am perfectly happy with KO's.
I won't be getting this of course because I made a conscious decision to stop my collection BEFORE the Rebirth episodes. A whole bunch of new characters that existed for a few minutes at the very end of the series hold no nostalgia for me. But if more companies wanna KO FansToys, so be it. They're profiting from stolen IP so they haven't got a leg to stand on complaining about it. The car-thieves whining about being carjacked in their stolen vehicle need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Don't worry; it's spelt "impugning" anyway.

It hasn't been confirmed but so far we've got Cyclonus, two different AstroTrains, credible reports of Insecticons, hints of Dinobots... I wouldn't be ruling anything out at this stage.
FT's strong arm tactics against KO makers look to have crumbled... so it could well be open season on their moulds.
