While I love IDW Grimlock's head sculpt and design I can definitely agree it's not the most Grimlock-looking face. Tho the visible visor helps it better.




Like others have said he has an Optimus look to it which I see. But I see elements of BW's Dinobot personally as well (the curved antennas and the vents on the sides of his head).

Also with the price tag this figure is at I don't blame you at all (it's a lot of money).

Well it is the same price as the original.

 

The final inflated price. Cacus was originally much cheaper.

 

Cause he originally wasn't painted. The silver and gold was originally just plain plastic.


The price increase came when they painted the entire thing after fan feedback.

Ugh, fine, be logical!   Now I need to decide if I can justify buying a $200 blue T-rex.

 

I'm absolutely down double dipping on this guy but I can't decide if I should go G2 or the rumored MTMTE/Scavengers remold.

 

When I get this guy I want to remove the window glass on his chest and highlight the details.

 

Not rumored, they are just trying to finger out which look of grimlock, at what point into the Mtmte / Lost light comics they want to make. I also told them more of the final Lost light look so it would go with Ismenios, kadmos, and all of mmc reformatted stuff.

 

I am just glad he's a regular release.

 

Yeah it’s not really rumored since PX themselves asked if their was demand for that retool and there was. The obvious changes will be the head, but I do wonder since his design when he first appeared in MTMTE changes when we see him again toward the end of MTMTE and also in LL (having red thighs) so I wonder what deco they are gonna go with?

 

Yes most definitely resculpt of the Head with visor, Chest, Knees, and minor retool of shoulder yet really not a big deal. And yes red thighs, black torso, gold on the circle behind head in robot mode. Are the only changes I've analyzed.

Those are pretty much the changes. I do wonder will they go with the black or red thighs? Since he had both in MTMTE (mainly had black on the cover of MTMTE). Along with having a red torso and then to silver in LL/end of MTMTE. Either way I'm probably fine but I am curious to see what they would do. Probably red since it would make the figure more visually different from the first version/MD version.

For some reason didn't see this. Can't say I blame them. Honestly if they ever needed help deciding on colors or what to change I feel like some of us fans could help them. But I will say at the least the head and other minor areas are all that need to be changed. I do hope he has the red stripe under his neck in dino mode but if not like the MD versions I'll live.

Agreed, and I'd be done to help/participate if they need be. Mainly because I'm trying to wait on that version (hopefully it happens at some point sooner rather than later, cause it's tempting to buy the regular version already out).

Looks like the neck armor plates are completely blue, instead of grey with a blue outline like in the previous photos? I like the change; looks even better than before!

(Would still like to find this guy for under $200 though.  )
