it was bulkhead repaint, some had hope that jtprime just didn't know who the character was, just that it was using bulkhead mold, and was a repaint, which it very could have been

I think the potential for Pyro was born from all of the leaked figures specifically being referred to as it's this character but Bulkhead was just referred to as a Bulkhead repaint, not specifically as Bulkhead. I don't think anyone was really expecting it, just mulling possibilities

Mostly speculation, but it was probably fed by an initial rumor from one of the leakers that Bulkhead would be sharing a mold with an Optimus Prime, and being red and having a fairly Prime-y headsculpt, a Pyro that transforms with his windshield on his chest could definitely be mistaken for an Optimus Prime by someone not familiar with the character.

Always found Bayverse Hound curious... the name is Hound and a military vehicle... sure... but acts more like Kup since he's an old war dog with a Cygar... and looks more like he'd be a shoe-in for a Movie Bulkhead given he's a "fatter" bot than most.

They could easily reupurpose the Legacy Bulkhead for Movie Hound if they ever chose to G1-ify Movie figures. So far only Barricade tends to get that treatment... unfortunately tends to be Prowl repaints tho.

Movie Hound is definitely an odd bird despite being a very memorable character. AOE took a lot of inspiration from Animated, like Lockdown and Megatron's role in the story, so I'm sure Hound was at least partially inspired by Bulkhead based on his appearance alone. Naming him Hound is curious, although it was probably some combination of wanting to keep the trademark and how as a G1-original name it loosely fit a green military-themed Autobot. And of course, personality-wise, he's kind of his own beast, almost like an Ironhide or Kup personality taken to the extreme.

Still made for a great character, which is why I'm absolutely down to repurpose this Bulkhead repaint as CHUG Movie Hound!

    Looks like today is Bulkhead.

I was really hoping it would be the jumpstarter(s) so we could see if it is a two pack or not.

Part of the reason we haven't seen more G1-ified Movie figures is that so few of the character names weren't G1 (however inappropriately applied) to start with. Barricade isn't even technically an exception, but since even most G1 fans barely remember the Micromaster Race Track Patrol member (if, indeed, they do at all), Movie Barricade has become the stronger association with the name (EDIT: Apparently to the point where Hasbro renamed the Micromaster character when his Siege toy came out. The first time a name change was done when loss of the trademark clearly couldn't be the reason).

The same can't really be said of most other Movie characters. Movie Hound is, at least, distinct enough from his G1 namesake (and memorable enough in his own right) that it just might work.

(EDIT: I'm talking strictly about names here. It's all about how the toy is to be marketed. Design cues really aren't relevant to this comment)

From what Jtprime said yesterday, it's not. Unless there's been more said since, I haven't kept up with this thread

.5 out of 4 so far on these. Just a bunch of uninspired repaints and Leadfoot.
