Hmmn. This company came on the scene with a bang but seem to be fizzling away a little more every time they share news or info. I’ve gone from super excited to… meh.

Wait, no partsforming shell? They changed idea again?

And this is still 62cm without the partsforming? How can that be? Is Scrapper going to be 20% larger?

Sure this company has lot of ideas, and very confused

I believe they are making a toon style with the partsforming shell and a toy style with the parts seen in this reveal, the figure can become the lower leg and attach to the toy style thigh as seen in this post or be combined with the partsforming shell to create the toon style as seen in the reveal last week. I think they need to make it clearer what they're doing but from reading Facebook posts on their page I think this is the plan

These guys do not seem to have a clear idea what are they doing, they went from this

    Screenshot_20211014-105308_WhatsApp.jpg

    to this

    FB_IMG_1651373934835.jpg

    and now to this

    qkkixDT.png

they are COMPLETELY different versions of Devastator (and getting worse and worse each versione they came up with).... this does not give me good vibes, as they seem to be changing direction faster then we can comment on them

First one was a bad mockup...ignore it.

Second picture is the Beta (toon) version.

Third picture is the Alpha (toy) version.

We're still waiting on a Beta version of the 3rd picture

Does nobody actually read their press releases?

They are doing TWO versions. The latter is the toy version. The other is the cartoon version.

No, they are doing excactly as they stated: "The Alpha version: which was present in the first teaser, this version is G1 toys with a more minimal partforming."

No, in this version Scrapper forms the lower leg, in the beta version render they showed the shell / robot combination forms the entire leg.

Right - it's not that hard to follow!

In the Alpha version, Scrapper is in one piece, practically just alt mode, and forms only the lower leg with minimal added faux parts - looks like just little caps that cover the pivots of his bucket pistons to make them look bigger. That then connects to a knee and thigh of combiner parts.

In the Beta version, Scrapper is almost certainly split in two and largely encased in faux combiner parts including foot/heel parts, a giant knee/ankle joint and some leg covers. That assembly forms the entire leg.

The important question to me is will this be two releases or just one release that you can choose to configure as either the Alpha or Beta versions? The underlying Scrapper figure looks basically the same, all that seems to change is the wheel style and what combiner parts are used, so in theory it could all be packaged as one release.

    So THAT'S why it's gonna be $300...

In all seriousness though THAT'S interesting. Never expected them to be a package deal.

In this version, Scrapper splits into 2 and plugs into a partsformed leg shell with a knee joint.

In this version, Scrapper remains as a single unit and transforms into the lower leg, plugging into a partsformed upper leg. It's being marketed as being a reference to the G1 toy.

The 2 versions are so different in implementation that I wonder --.who in their right mind would design something that requires all that extra engineering just to accommodate such divergent combined modes? It's added development and production cost that just makes the breakeven point so much futher away.

Not to mention that the G1 toy homage version abandons their whole "100% G1 toon accuracy" mantra altogether -- which was the whole unique value proposition of this product to begin with.

I wish you supporters of this project well, but what I've seen just sets off red flags and warning bells in my head.

    Ok thanks for the clarification

So with that information I can suppose the first version has to be bigger (62cm) than the toy version?

No, it seems both versions (really just two optional configurations of the same product) are going to give a 62 cm Devastator.

If anything I support this project even more BECAUSE it's doing something new and innovative. Will it work perfectly? Probably not. Will it fail? Maybe. But I'd rather see innovation then the same companies doing the same thing over and over again. If we want to keep this hobby alive we need progress not stagnation.

Yeah, the toy version had pants like Toyworld. The toon version doesn't.

The thighs aren't needed for toon, because the leg frame doohickey covers the difference.

That's what I get from the pictures, anyway. So, it's only the legs, and the bot is just configured differently in it.
